    Hi all,
I am trying to sort my water routing from my tunnel ram. I have a dilema. I dont have enough room to run fittings from my remote thermostat housing to the tunnel ram water ports, as shown.
What would work out for me is using a crossover at the front and plumb the remote thermostat housing (mounted at the front of the tunnel ram) to the rear water ports. So that will mean that water will enter the engine at the rear and back to the radiator at the front as normal.
    Will this be ok?
    Cheers

i make my own intakes for the 350. when i did the s/p, i was able to reuse the mopar t/stat part that i cut off. but i also tied the back ports to the t/stat. i just did it that way and then i found out mopar racers do it. who knew.

on my s/charger intake there was much room under the intake or in front. i had to make a t/stat hsng. bolted it to the plate that the s/c sits on. i tied it all the together again. what a pain that was. really tight. also i didnt use the bypass hose on this intake. i have no o/heat problems.

from your pictures, you have a ton of room compared to what i had to do. its not hard to make a t/stat hsng and tie it all in. some fittings, hose and clamps and you all done.

Water enters the block at the ports in the block behind the water pump/timing cover- the majority of it then moves rearward around the cylinders, out the large long passages at the rear of each cylinder bank, and into the heads. Then if flows forward thru the heads, up into the intake manifold via the water passages at the front of the heads, and then out then past the t-stat or bypass, and to the radiator. Hot water out the stat housing, cold water in thru the lower hose into the water pump.

IF you take the water out of the back of the cylinder heads, you will miss most of your head cooling, where all the heat really is.

The easiest way to do this is to actually take it to a fabricator, and have him use alum sheet metal to make a manifold across the front of the intake which will incorporate the water outlet.

I know this is a really old post, but I have a question about water flow.
On a race only application, first of all, is a thermostat necessary or even used in most race applications?
And if no thermostat, is the bypass hose needed?

    Thanks!!

Tstat is not necessary in a race only application. However you should have a restriction in place to slow down water flow so it has time in the radiator to get cooled. Just take the spring and center section out of a t-stat and put it in like normal.

No bypass hose required once you eliminate the T stat.

    Thanks Briz and JW!!
That's what I kinda figured thinking it through, but I wanted to make sure!!
