Does anyone have an idea how far in advance GM used voltage regulators on the assembly line? For example- If my car was built in Feb '72, what month would be used? I don't have the original to check, it was probably replaced anyway. I found out regulators are date coded- i.e. 64-72 and a letter for the month.
    1971 December would be 1L
January 72 would be 2A and so on.......

On common parts like that I'd think it'd be no more than a few weeks so a 2A or 2B.

Nice to see you & your beautiful car in BG!

    Jerry,

I've read on here that with electronic parts, the window was sometimes a month to two months.

    BUQUICK I'm your huckleberry.

I recently bought a restored voltage regulator from a seller called Classic Restorations on eBay for $169. It was a correctly dated part for my GTO and was restored with nice plating. I was very happy with the show-ready appearance of the part. He does not currently show one with the date code you are seeking but it might be worth the time to send a message asking.
