Used 235/60 14" tires

Discussion in '"Pay It Forward"' started by David Gramlow, Feb 6, 2004.

  1. I now have a used set of 4 Grand Am Radial GT 14" tires that I no longer need. I don't know how many miles they've seen, but if I wasn't upgrading to 15", I would probably run these 14's another couple summers. The tread depth looks pretty even from tire to tire, although all show more wear in the center than towards the outer edges. I'm thinking I would like to get $5/tire + shipping cost, but considering what it might cost to ship, how about FREE for the tires, + shipping? Here's a couple of pictures, and I can take more if needed. I do also have a spare tire with ZERO miles on it, but it's a different brand. Same size though, and RWL. I would sell that one tire for $20 + shipping.

Please reply here only, don't email or PM for your first contact. I would also sell individuals if no one wanted all 4 used ones, same with the new one. First preference though is to ship all 4 or 5 to one buyer.

    Tires

    David,
Unfortunately I am still running 14" on my Skylark and could actually use these tires if the shipping is reasonable enough to make it worth it. Would you be willing to check shipping costs to 37029? Thanks.

    David,

If ACCTMGR decides that he doesn't want your set of 4 tires, I will gladly take them off of your hands...er, garage floor. Man, what a bargain. I'm in Washington state (no, not the prison) zip code 98682.
    Thanks, George H.

  5. Butch, I assume you are only interested in the 4 used ones, or all 5? Would your shipping address be commercial or residential? I would likely ship with UPS, though Fedex may be possible, and could be cheaper too. I'll see if I can get a rate in the next couple days. I've never shipped tires before, so I'm not sure what is required by various shippers.

  6. I've got you 2nd in line George! Residential or commercial address?

    David,

Actually let's change that zip to 98607. That's where I work so it would be a commercial address ( I think that may work out cheaper, right?)

  8. I know that UPS rates are lower to a commercial address, not sure about FEDEX, etc.

  9. Ok guys, just came from FEDEX. Commercial and residential rates are pretty close. Shipping will run $20 per tire, either way, to either one of you. They will be shipped pretty much bare, with just FEDEX's taping and labeling on them.

Butch, you're up first. Is that affordable? If you want them, PM or email me, and we can discuss payment options. Thanks!

  10. Just put a tread depth gauge on the tire I brought to work with me, and the 2 outside channels measure 5/32, the 2 middle channels measure at 4/32. Looks like new they would be around 11/32 depth, so I guess you could figure they have a bit more than 1/3 of their original tread .

  11. I'm having email problems here today/tonight, so please either reply here or use the PM function to contact me. Thanks!

    Used Tires

David, I'm sorry I haven't been able to respond sooner. The price for shipping seems reasonable enough but I have decided to let George have them if he is still interested. Since I have two fairly new tires on my car already I think I would probably be better off to just go ahead and get two more to match the ones I have now. I also thought I had P235s on my car but when I checked tonight I actually have P225s. :Dou:

Again, I appologize for not being able to get back to you sooner.:spank:

I really appreciate the offer though.

  13. No problem Butch, thanks for letting me know.
