I’m not at home or I would take a picture for you. Look at the intake side of the head and I the Center you will see the holes that need to be plugged. I drill a 1/8” hole in the frost plug so the intake still gets enough heat.

    Thanks! ill look again tomorrow.

Tim said they are out of the 350 212 cam and only 1 of the 284 so I claimed it. More next year.

That explains the the different rockers on each head also. I definitely don't want to risk head gasket failure so I won't use the steel shim. Deck of block is finished and not milled only trued up. Here's the picture of block when I disassembled.

No wait. The one head had gasket still attached. Here's another picture

Yes I would advise the fel pro head gaskets.

Summit was giving me a bit of a runaround ordering 8 of the silvolites but again glen at uem solved the problem!

Good idea to spray the felpro head gaskets with copper?

NO on spraying the composite gaskets. The only time to use the copper spray stuff is on steel head gaskets.

Is there a problem using steel shim gaskets? Seems like they would be less prone to blowout.

Devon is correct do not use the copper spray on any other gaskets unless they are steel. The composite gaskets are to be used dry only no copper.

I used them on my last 350. Checked the block & it was only out a couple thousandths & figured that'd be ok. Was an original "SP" block and while not original to the car, still didn't want to mill it (yea, I know...:)). Had the heads milled to get to 10.5 w/the steel shim gaskets & Sealed Power (IIRC) Hyperutectic pistons - Said a little prayer while bolting the heads down and never had a problem. C118 cam, dp intake, ported big valve heads, & Hooker headers - That engine made some good power. Wish I'd dynoed it &/or still had it.

yes if someone is willing to take a chance on re doing the head gasket then by all
Means give it a shot. Sounds like a strong engine!

Seems to me with composite gaskets (cheapees), only the metal fire ring provides the actual seal that won't blow through, unless you buy multi-layer like Cometics.
