SOLD- Selling my lightly used UMI 4033-1 upper control arms in black. These use Delrin bushings and come with 1/2” taller upper ball joints, a great upgrade when using stock height lowers. Only 760mi on them. Retail is $599, I’m asking $450 picked up in Southern CA, or buyer pays shipping. Tall ball joints are not installed at the moment, we tried stock height ball joints at UMI’s recommendation to achieve more negative camber via lower spindle height. Thank you.
Update: removed them today and the powder coating is dulled from brake fluid/cleaner I assume. I’ll take $350 for them picked up.
Phil, Just curious why you are listing these after 760 miles? Were you happy with them or moving to a coil over setup?
Sorry for the delay guys! My car has spent many years in the garage with these arms, I’ve only recently got it drivable. These were removed due to them not being the best setup for what I wanted. I plan To autocross my car and needed UMI’s shorter adjustable upper control arm in order to get negative camber without excessive shimming. I’m also running tall lower ball joints which is what exaggerated the issue.
Switched to UMI 4056-3 for a shorter cross shaft to ball joint distance, which will allow more negative camber.
Thanks Phil for the update! I see the links for the pics but the pics themselves are not showing. When I click on them it says "You do not have permission to view media within this album." Maybe the album they are in needs to be shared? I plan to put these on my 66 Skylark Convt which is more of a cruiser with some slight suspension updates so they should work for my needs. Just for clarification, are you able to run a tall lower ball joint with these for a driver? Or since you are planning to autocross you needed more adjustment and the newer arms work better with your lower ball joint? Just trying to understand, as I was researching the tall lower ball joint setups but haven't made any decisions.
I apologize in advance if this is hijacking, I'll send a PM if others think this is detracting. I bought the very upper control arms you are selling and am curious about your 'excessive shimming' comment and got me thinking.. how much is 'excessive shimming'? Feel like I've seen up to a half inch of shimming previously without batting an eye - how much shimming do you feel you would've needed for the negative camber you're after? Good luck with sale!
I had to use About an inch of shims to hit -0.5*, UMI claims this is due to the extended lower ball joint. The 4033 is only intended to be used with an otherwise stock set up. Even with the 4056 arms, it looks like I’ll still need at least a 1/2” of shims to hit -1*.
Thanks for that. Been on jackstands since I installed the upgraded suspension, so have no idea what sort of shimming I'll need - appreciate the insight!
Thanks for updating the pictures. I will be using a stock LCA so these should work. How much will shipping be to 85225 (Chandler, AZ)?
