Cool, where is your shop? You location isn't filled out in the upper right hand corner.

Custom oil pan was needed as the stock pan was hitting the frame with the girdle:

"Pickup in side of pan", does this mean that you're going to bypass the block oil passage to factory pickup location?

If so, great choice! Supposedly you can run the high volume pump by doing this mod, but really isn't necessary with it. Not sure why more people don't use it? :Do No: The only way to make the oiling system any better is to run a belt driven oil pump. That small diameter very long run through the block is one of the biggest oil restrictions in a sbb and BBB engine, like trying to breath 8 ft under water with a 20 ft garden hose!(I wanna marry the braud that can do that :Brow:)

    Is this what you're planning on using?;

Good choice if you are. :TU:

Hi Derek, it is a belt driven oil pump:

Why couldn't anyone install a "balance line" in any build?
Looks totally simple, and could even be done with stainless steel lines.

Yes you can use the balance line on a stock setup too. People have found a difference between the pressure at the front of the engine and the rear so the line was developed for the 455...

Got a few things done today while waiting for the TA alum heads... Took down the winter tires for Leanne's SUV and put them on... NO snow on the ground and its mid NOV!!!!:rocker:

Welded up this engine lift crane as it was leaning sideways and getting dangerous. Nice and true now.

    Washed up the car...

Put these tire skates under the car so I can push it around the garage... Nice quality bearings, wheels and THICK plates really sturdy. Shane and the neighbour boy were super happy to help me do this...

Added some winter weight to the back of the truck:

Been messing with a lot of LS trucks too... Doing a single turbo on one of my 6.0 trucks.

While waiting for the alum heads I am keeping busy! Sold the two transfer cases that came with the truck for more than I paid for the truck.

Putting a Buick 350 and 4L80E into this truck that had a solid axle swap with 1 ton suspension and roll cage.

This 1990 gmc came with independent suspension but for real off road abuse you want some solid axles... Tons of work went into this and it's really well done.

Pulled it up onto the flat deck for safe keeping, love that PTO winch:

Did you get a grill for Christmas?
Front still has the "mad max" look!
That rat rod of your buddys is neat.

    sean Buick 76 Buick Nut

No I haven't bought a grill yet but will one of these days. I kind of like it as is but yes will get a grill at some point. I have one here but it's a little rough. I have a few engines fresh on the stands may swap one in if the alum heads are not ready soon. Yeah that rat rod is pretty cool, he built some better turbo headers and it's making 550 hp at the tires but for how long before the block gives up?

Skinnys will help keep it alive!

Patch that grill up! :TU: I even had to do a little cosmetic surgery on mine thru the years.

Is this the A motor or the B ?

That is a super nice crank!

And you forgot the finished aluminum head pics! :)

  15. sean Buick 76

    sean Buick 76 Buick Nut

This is the A motor but I have a spare girdle just in case. Engine B has Herche rods and diamond pistons, and engine C has stock 74 rods and trw forged pistons

Wow Johnny thanks for the advice I really appreciate it...

Why would I put out the book before I have all my R&D complete and with the alum heads about to be released? That would make the book obsolete by later this year. I have a great publishing deal and one chance to do this so I am doing it right. I'm not doing it to make money or to be a hero... I'm doing it because I want to see the SBB shine!

All I know is that I will track prove my car when I am good and ready... When I got this car it ran great but with stock rods in the bottom end was was not interested in finding out if they hold up at 125 MPH or not. I took the car to the dyno and got some data, even revved it to 8000 RPM at 20 PSI to see what would break and then tore it down to see what the weak links were. The engine bay is empty right now and although I have two fresh 350s on the stand both with good rods and forged pistons I am not dropping another iron headed engine into this car.

I am getting the first set of TA Alum heads, and after some extensive porting they will go on my girdled short block, dyno tested NA and then into my car so I can add boost... Chassis dyno testing, and then track time once the bugs are worked out. You can chastise me all you want but I have the best people in the business building my new 350 with the best parts ALL custom made, so at this point so please sit back and let me do my thing now that you are retired and out of the game.

You can hate all you want but I am not too worried about the haters anymore... I am doing good, I have a nice family and friends that support me and its a hobby, its fun. I am writing the book to HELP share information with people, not to try to be the "HERO" or the fastest Buick 350 racer. 90% of the readers of the book will likely be looking for advice about mild combos, not max effort drag racing only engines. I will have the most powerful and reliable Buick 350 soon, and then hopefully someone else will be inspired and eclipse my progression. I want what is best for the hobby, its not a dick swinging contest... I believe in the Buick 350 and I want others to see the potential.

I respect the research and work you did to help promote the 350 engines and the parts that we have now would not be available today without guys like you AND me pushing the limits and making custom parts, paying people to make custom parts, and promoting the engines and their strong points.

I don't care if I have the fastest 350 out there, I am doing my best and having fun and I am not going to let you bring me down.

Here is the low cost EGT kit I got. It's only 2 Chanel but I can add bungs to all 8 header primaries and move the probes as needed. Bring able to see the exhaust temps at each cylinder will give better info than just the oxygen sensor can give as it's an average of 4 cylinders anyway.

My car sat this year as I am waiting for the alum heads... Plus I have 2 kids under 3 and building a garage and have way too many vehicles...

Anyways here is a cool video about the gains of a turbo on a 302:
