The A/C system in my '70 GS455 has original components including the A6 compressor and R12. It's been working fine for several years but upon trying it for the first time this season it appears low or out of Freon. (As my local A/C friend/expert has told me).

I needed to relocate an improperly run A/C line anyway and replace the dryer which was too narrow and was rattling in its clamps. (in addition to being located with the clamps reversed.

So, my problem is trying to locate the correct dryer for my system. The only one shown correct for my car by Auto Zone and Discount Auto is the correct size and diameter but, the input and output fittings are not the same threads. The output fitting on the dryer is correct for the line going to the POA but, the input/condenser side of the dryer has larger female threads than the male flair fitting coming from the condenser.

Where can I obtain the correct dryer? I'm not concerned with 100% originality as long as the fittings on the dryer are the same on both sides as the male fittings on my system and the dryer has a sight glass. AC Dryer problem (3).JPG AC Dryer problem (2).JPG AC Dryer problem (1).JPG

For my 70 GS, I tried to buy Old Air Products # 21-4213S but was out of stock so I found and bought one from four seasons # 33213 Drier from Amazon for like $12 . Haven't charged the system, but it's installed. Just double check your application

I contacted both Original Air in Tampa and Old Air Products in Texas and "voila", Old Air fixed me right up. Original Air didn't seem to be able to offer anything but the same parts that Auto Zone was offering. I was able to get the original type aluminum dryer exactly the same as the one that came off. Thanks for the link.
