It is a 67 -meaning it is more rare & harder to find then 64-66 style! Altho a passenger mirror was never designed for mid 60's cars, this mirror is ambidextrous.. it will look right at home on either driver OR passenger side. There is one minor, not easily spotted- flaw, otherwise, the chrome is excellent. The finish is bright. The mirror is clean, maybe a few very light scuffs, nothing obvious, complete as shown with mounting bracket, gasket and original screws. This mirror is in severely awesome condition. NOT a Postons Repop. This is the reeeel genuine, factory GM 67 BUICK PART: 5711730 $148.72 shipped to any lower 48. PayPal as FAMILY & FRIENDS or ZELLE preferred. Hate to be the bearer of bad news..... 1371743 is for the 67..... You got the 64-6 mirror.. Sorry.. I almost jumped on it...
Here is a photo of a '67 (left) vs an earlier mirror. This photo was posted previously by mrolds69 and I saved it because it’s a great way to remember how a ‘67 differs from the earlier mirrors.
Makes me wonder why they would change the style for the last year of its use. In '68 the rectangular mirror made it's debut.
That mirror in general is a mystery to me. For the angle change I've heard 64-66 wind fluter at higher speeds so they changed the angle. Ive also heard short people ( seat forward ) had something to do with it... Who knows... If look at all 4 A-Bodies the mirror is in different locations on the door.. Buick/Olds pretty close to each other, Pontiac way forward.. Chevy In the middle...
Maaan you are right, CANT CATCHA BREAK ANYWHERE: OKSO, WHO'S RIGHT? WHO'S NOT RIGHT? Just researched this on a Buick Performance website: "5711730 is a tri-shield side view mirror for 1964 - 1967 Buick Skylark, Special, and GS models. This will also fit 1963 - 1967 Buick LeSabre, Invicta, Wildcat, Riviera and Electra 225 models."
That is 100% without question not a 67 mirror. One of the biggest spreaders of misinformation on the mirrors was CARS, they used to advertise the old style through 67. As mentioned the 67 mirror was a one year only design. If this was at a national meet and on a car to be judged, a knowledgeable judge would deduct for it
Here is one of my NOS ones, I also included a picture directly out of the 1967 parts book. This is the type of documentation anyone should have for there cars
gee thanx Bill... Matter of fact, I DID my own research and as was mentioned, there is a ton of misguided information out there... Keith has finally posted correct for 67 numbers. SO I guess I am back to still not knowing with 100% CERTAINTY exactly what mirror this is... Yes, Rick is right... IT IS A NICE MIRROR and SHORT OF CONCOURSE LEVEL CARS most street driver cars wouldn't know the diffs. . . SO .... anybody want a NICE TRI SHIELD MIRROR???? Wheelz, Tampa Bay
The number I posted is the part number not the inside casting number, you can clearly see that the 67 mirror in the picture along with the box, group number and part number I provided is exactly and clearly the same as the mirror you have. You can see it clearly listed in the 1967 Buick parts book. I don’t know what more proof you want of what you have, I provided you with indisputable proof. You will also notice on the parts book picture that it shows the adjustable mirror being used for 64 to 67 but that standard mirror only available for 67, if that mirror would have been used in 64 to 66 it would have shown the same way the adjustable one was
Jeeeze. alright already Keith. . .I get it. I get it. Good Grief. Now that this post has been all-BEAT-TO-HECK, Again: .... anybody want a REAL NICE TRI SHIELD MIRROR????
