Did the 400 turbo trans in 70 gs have a BA stamp originally on the case ? And if so we’re they all BA or were stage ones BB stamp , what did it stand for Buick automatic
Yes - The cases came with a two letter stamp on the bell housing. They must have used ink or cheap paint, as, I always lose the markings during clean up. I think there was also color coding, too. I can not confirm the color coding, though.
All GM Divisions used the first letter of the division. The second letter is for year/model differences. A=Cadillac (also used C on some models) B=Buick C=Chevrolet O=Oldsmobile P=Pontiac R=Rolls Royce (some RVs' used R) F was used for large trucks, motorhomes, buses and such F was used for Avanti E was used for Volvo trucks M was used on Military HMMV and some other vehicles (I actually used a NOS HMMV valve body in my '68 Skychicken (put a '67 Electra ST400 so the newer valve body provided better 1/2 and 2/1 shift functions)
