torque for alum. valve covers

  1. I know with standard valve covers, you torque them to 5 lb-ft., but what about aluminum valve covers? Do you stay at 5, or turn 'em down a bit tighter, to take advantage of the better sealing and rigidity you get with aluminum covers? I'm hoping to get mine installed in the next few weeks.

I would try 5 ft./lbs and see how it goes. If you see any seepage, bump 'em up to 7 ft./lbs. I think you'd be right about the aluminum covers 'taking' a little more torque.

  4. Thanks Scott. I figured somebody must have an opinion or experience with this...
