Thinking of new wheels and have ? On size

I bought my 69 skylark custom from a guy 3 years ago and can’t find him to ask this question, so here it goes.

I researched the pinned wheel appendix and assume that the rim size is 15 x 6 due to the year and tire size on it but cannot be positive .

The rear set have 255/60R15 BFG and the front have 235/60R15. Not a lot of tire bulge on the rear but it is close to the wheel well lip. I believe ?

My questions are, is there a way to check, other than removing the wheel, to determine if they are in fact 15 X 6? Also if they’re indeed 15 x 6 should/could I go with 15 x 7 for the rear ?

 

Those look like factory Buick wheels; if so they’re 15x7. A 245/60/15 is perfect on a 15x7 (and very close in size to the G-60-15 used in ‘70.)

I believe they’re 15 x 6 According to this chart ? Also this is the side view. I also have the original build sheet which has a XC 5 code . I can’t find the build code which indicates what this represents. I’m still not sure if the previous owner changed the wheels from original either

 

Sorry everyone for all the posts….I found on the build sheet that it came from the factory with 7.75 x 14 WSW … helps when you actually look… doh. So obviously these were added at some point and like PBR400 stated are probably 15 X 7 ..

 

I'll second Patrick on those looking like the 15 X 7.

 

I run repro 15x6 on front and 15x8 on rear. Nice for a drag look....not so much for handling.

 

I’m planning to do exactly what he has here on rear on my 68 convertible. Same exact wheels and tires.

I don’t see how people putting 15x7 and 15x8 reproductions with the smaller backspace work on a 68-69. There’s just enough room it seems like with the factory 15x7 with 4-3/8” backspace. Glad I’m going with the factory wheels.

 

Buy a "Rim Width Measurement Measuring Tool" like this, they are cheap (US$ 13.99)
