I only have a vague recollection of what Mike told me the wagon weighs but with that 8.38 I'd be surprised if that wasn't well over 1000hp on the dyno.

What do you think it weighs, Gary? Pretty impressive is an understatement!

So somewhere between 3200-3500 lbs + 8.38 (not even sorted out) = that's making some steam!!

    Very impressive indeed!
I want to know more about his engine and what prototype parts he may be running
I agree with the BIG power it must be running.
Keep us posted down here please.
    Cheers

I saw the short block before it went in the car and it didnt look prototype to me. That car is just flat out cool and Mike can drive.

    They're Stage 4 castings.

Actually the heads are the same Stage 5's as before which are square (i.e. wider) intake ports. They take a unique rocker offset layout. They were prototypes 20 years ago and never went into production. Stage 2 TE development had caught up to them. I am guessing that they are liking the bigger bore of the Tomahawk. Not sure what updating was done to them for this engine.

    Thanks for that Dave.
Maybe being able to rev the engine harder now?
    Cheers

    But based on what casting?

They are unique castings, one or two sets. Same thing as the one or two sets of Stage 6's that he did. I'm getting rusty on a lot of this, but I think the Stage 5's are solid, i.e. no water and I believe the pushrods go through the intake ports. The valves were also moved more and used different offset lifters and rockers than any other combo. Might have been closed chamber like the Stage 4's used to be. But I'm sure if they did any work to them for this build that would go away as that feature impairs flow.

As a deviation from this, the Stage 6's sat on the shelf for 20 years (I moved them about 10 times as we would re-arrange the shop as it grew) and got played with early on and the ports were big enough to put your hand in but really weren't coming together as something practical. They are now being re-visited thanks to the success of the Tomahawk block.

If I read the MPH right, DA ranged from 0 to 1200 feet from what I can see, 29.65 Baro. Stout runs!

    3200 @ 156.5 957 HP
    3300 @ 156.5 987 HP
    3400 @ 156.5 1017 HP

MPH shows way less power than the ET. The car also has a Lenco with a clutch.

Like the saying goes, I know enough to get myself in trouble. All of the TA heads are related with ea other, i.e. TE series heads are SE's w/ Stage 3 runner cores. So the 5's and 6's can be called modified 4's but they never were 4's, the main modifications happened at the foundry. 4's do have wider valve spacing than the 3 and lower series so a unique rocker and lifter. 5's moved the valves differently which required another unique rocker and lifters combo for those heads only. 6's were nearly just a giant hunk of cast aluminum about 2+ inches taller than the other heads and the runners had to be made by hand. However, I bet this past week turned on a bunch of hmmmmm.
