    Hey All,

Just stumbled across the board tonight while wandering the 'net and wanted to let you know what a goldmine of info the site is.

I've probably come into the buick 350 via a different route, and am now starting to head in a much different direction.

My 69 350 is the stock motor in a Jeep Wagoneer that I've had for some years now. There are many of these out there, the overwhelming consensus is that the motor is outstanding with loads of torque - good thing in the 4x4 world. After awhile you get used to the parts counter guy asking "360 in that right?" with the obligitory "nope, buick 350" and the response is always the same - "huh, interesting swap..." "uuh, sorry not swap, came stock"

Both the motor and body have started to tire, the body is beginning to get holes in spots and its time for the next project - BbyCbra.

My 74 Triumph TR-6 is starting to tire also, and since the british iron based motor and trans end up weighing more than a rebuilt buick 350 and t-5 combo it only seems right and good to dump the 350 into the TR-6.

I end up with almost 3x the HP (-6 is about 80hp stock from its 2.6 litre inline 6 motor) and 4x the torque with better front to rear weight bias. The car weighs in at right around 2000 lbs, the motor with some slight performance mods should make 300 hp no prob. Doing some checking about "putting the baby on the bottle", and plumbing in some 100+ N.O.S. for some real necksnapping fun... Either way, the power to weight ratio comes somewhat close to the AC Cobra.

The front clip is off the jeep and the 350 is very exposed as it gets ready to come out and onto the stand for the pending rebuild. The engine compartment on the -6 has tons of room, adapters are on order. I'm busy digging thru the posts here on the site looking for info on the best options for rebuilds. I've sourced a stock 4bbl manifold from a 69 (so i was told, need to check the prod codes here later), have the matching q-jet carb, an HEI dist is inbound from a parts trade, and I've got the good book at hand (Guide to Buick Performance Engines). Shooting for lowend grunt from offidle to about 4k, as the little -6 IRS rearends can't take too much torque but it should make for a nice little streetfighter.

350 info has been hard to find, I'm looking forward to lurking around and learning. :Comp:

I'll be looking forward to sipping a cool one like my friend on the left once the motor is done and heading for its new home.

  3. Mike, welcome to the Buick V8 board! Hang around, ask questions, and you'll find plenty of help for rebuilding that 350! There's also lots of info already posted in this forum. Make sure and set your defaults in the "user cp" to show topics "from the beginning", otherwise I think the default is only 20 days of visible topics. Great to have ya here :TU:

And thanks for the welcome David

Mike, you didn't happen to get a 4bbl intake from Ebay a while back did you?

    Your story sounds familiar...

just checked out your site, it was you... I like your new wagon.

hot tanked and painted the manifold, carbs are still sitting in the box awaiting rebuild - although i took them down the other day and dug thru them again

    Yup, that was me...

Don't have the wagon anymore, sold it and bought back my GS (see the avatar)...

Your 350 project sounds fun... If you need any more parts let me know, I should be getting a whole complete engine / trans soon too...

May also be selling the 350 thats in my car now..

Hey Dan, I'll be putting my 350 in my Regal in the next couple of weeks, and was wondering if you would have another 4bbl intake, and/or an HEI distributor. Thanks, Matt.
