bellhousing to rear mount measurement same for th350 and muncie correct ? same mounts also ? i have a th400 all ready but am thinking of selling that and having the th350 redone for easier swapping between the 2 . does all that make sense ? del

It really no big deal either way. Muncie is a direct fit as long as it is a a pre 71 unit with small output shaft, otherwise your driveshaft yoke requires changing.

As for ease of swap from muncie to TH350 or muncie to TH400, its really all the same work except and bolt up's except for the for the fact the TH400 swap requires a diff driveshaft and a kick-down switch.(trans crossmembre holes area already there)

It becomes your decision, put money into your TH350 and keep it or setup the TH400 for a swap(need driveshaft and kickdown switch). I really think the gear ratios and how you use the car are more important considerations.

A 2004R is also a direct bolt in for the TH350, just about 1/2" diff in length - you can likely use the driveshaft without mods.

Lots of options, but my opinion is that once you get a 4-speed, swapping back to automatic may not be a priority!

sun : my idea is to start with mild 350 and automatic and have a good 350 and 4-speed in the wings to throw in after its done - but i'm now thinking that selling the th400 and going direct to 4-speed may make sense . and yes the drive shaft situation is a good point . dels
