G’day from Oz. I am contemplating rewiring at least the engine bay of my ‘71 Stage 1, replacing the ratty old original wires with aircraft-grade wires. I’ve been working on aircraft since the late ‘80s and over the years I have rewired three entire aircraft (including a T-6 Texan and an example of its Australian cousin, the CAC Wirraway), plus hundreds of smaller wiring jobs, so I think I will do an okay job in terms of aesthetics. Because aircraft wire is normally plain white, I would colour-code the wires by sleeving them with different coloured heat shrink at the ends. My car was changed to electronic ignition before I bought it, therefore I don’t need resistance wire for the coil, so the only problem I can foresee is the availability of new terminals for the various connectors. Are new terminals obtainable? What about connectors? Does anyone else have advice regarding anything else I need to be aware of? Cheers Ben For those interested, this is the Texan I rewired: https://warbirdsnews.com/warbird-re...estored-combat-veteran-ccf-harvard-mk-iv.html The Wirraway I rewired: http://www.adf-gallery.com.au/index.php?/category/wirraway-2a20-719 This is the other one I rewired: https://aeropedia.com.au/content/britten-norman-bn-2t-turbine-islander/
Unless you are talking about the terminals that are the connection point of the Light Harness and Engine Harness connection at firewall. Those were called Delphi Twin lock terminals. Since then Aptiv purchased Delphi. Search for these things of you need the connections between front harnesses and fuse block.
