That's right I said remember Poston, and you also seen what happened to Ken-Bell. I also said I had great dealings with Mike and I spent a great deal of money here. So don't go around and act like you are pissed off at what is being said here. I would be pissed also if someone sent me the wrong part knowing they did not have what the guy wanted. I am not a hater of TA Performance, and I DO NOT think that anyone here HATES TA they just want business dealings to be up front. Quote me if you do not like what I said. Don't go pulling pieces and parts from my quote and use them. That is a news media way of doing things. Get it, got it, now store it.

Not trying to make excuses or anything, but it is possible that the higher ups are overloaded with engine stuff as race season is right around the corner and people are antsy to get their engines up and running. I have a feeling the people in charge are going to handle the "small" stuff after they finish handling the "big" stuff to avoid folks complaining about the turn around time on their engines which ultimately costs them races and money.

If that's the case than it's a matter of finding enough people to handle the sales end of things reliably and efficiently so that the higher ups aren't needed on the day to day sales.

I am not a hater either, but I did feel shafted and I did speak directly to Mike. I suppose it's wrong to let people know your experience with a vendor? Or is it just TA Performance? How many had tough times dealing with The Parts Place and how many lit this web site up with complaints? I want all the Buick vendors to survive and thrive. But being one of the little guys I wish for better customer relations. I know if I need a part TA sells I'll probably will give them another shot at my business. I have bought from TPP, TA, Poston, YO and many others. I try to support those that support our cars.

    Bam,
You very well may have a sound theory with that. However, if that is in fact the case, thats a real problem. If someone runs into issues on little things (due to there "lesser importance" in the eyes of "higher ups") then they are running off those who would quite possibly come back for larger purchases later. Shrugging off a customer who orders 50 bucks worth if stuff will certainly cause doubts in that customer when hes ready for his 5000 dollar order. I hope this isnt the case, as TA has been around long enough that they should have a better business sense then that.
    John (staged70),
You too have a sound theory there. Ive seen it before. Perfect example was your comparison to the countless threads on TPP. You dont see nearly as many getting ruffled up over negative remarks on them, but as soon as some other vendors come up its suddenly a cardinal sin. Kinda funny how that works. And whats funnier, is just for the record ive had no issues with tpp as compared to some of the "golden child-esque" vendors on here. Sometimes it pays to be lucky i guess. Still i havent had a bad enough experience personally to black label any of our more prominent vendors on this site, and with any luck i never will!

When this thread started I wrote a response then deleted it, thinking it should run it's course. I still have a loyalty to TA and I am wondering why there isn't resolution yet. Well, I no longer represent TA but I will give my 2 cents. The female representative that seemed insensitive to the situation, often is and all too often chooses the wrong responses, i.e. that is your prerogative. However, she has been loyal and reliable in an atmosphere that is very fast paced and requires a good level of multi-tasking. This is a very important attribute to a business like TA. Having said that, her words undermine a weeks worth or more of hard work performed by TA, inc. The entire time I was at TA we never had the Duplicolor paint, and the order taker definitely did not confirm what was on the shelf and failed to recognize the importance of the difference between the customer's request and what was on the shelf. Over the years, TA has had to develop a fairly strict return policy due to unbelievable situations that some customers generate (hard to explain in a short posting). Unfortunately, this policy is detrimental to situations like this and how I used to say is like stepping over the dollar to pick up the dime. It was always the most difficult situation for me on the phones and I actually left TA over such an incident. TA in general doesn't monitor the internet and lightly monitors their website's in box. I used to participate often on here and do some tech via e-mail as well. Mostly, Mike Jr. dabbles on here part time. I have never known anyone at TA to completely ignore a customer inquiry and have to give them the benefit of the doubt that there is a good reason for no response. Though, it is a little bit of a run around, you do need to talk to Mike Sr. Though he will wish that it was handled more properly, he does want and needs to know of the situation. Like I always would say when I worked there, "Re-Invest with TA". Hope it all works out.

No problems on my end. Took awhile when ordered my engine build to get the heads done, but everything all came together very nice until assembly of my roller rockers, one was machined wrong. Called TA and once they recieved my defective rocker they sent a new replacement.
All my orders have been filled correctly and promptly. Thanks TA
Sorry about your paint issue and hope the matter gets resolved

I think of TA Performance as kind of the "Soup Nazi" Getting one of their catalogs is like a kid in a candy store for a 455 build. Until I got on V8Buick.com I thought TA was "it", you know - kind of like Mondellos was it for serious Olds guys.

Just as I am getting ready to build 2 455's I don't want to be told "no soup for you!".

The initial poster ordered paint. In my opinion, I would not get paint from TA. Can't you get paint from other sources? Cams and other parts - you might have a beef.

I remember in the catalog that it stated Mike T would usually be hard to get ahold of because he would be out supporting the racers. Racers spend the big bucks and I get the sense that the catalog and parts offered to restorers is not as important to TA.

I like that they offer Layaway. I can't afford a stiff $6000 parts bill.

Dave, I ordered the 310 cam from you as I think you had it in a 430 Riv if I remember correctly. I then decided to step up the power on my build and bought the 290-08h. Thanks again,

    WOW!
I will try and address a few of the folks here.
I will begin on Todd's behalf. Todd, I'm very sorry for your experience with TA Performance. I heard of your situation back when you called the problem in. I got on the phone that day to locate any of this paint for you. I found 4 cans, but when I received them they only had 2, so I have 2 cans of the paint for you. They have been here for over a month. Tim has tried calling, I know for a fact he called your work number and left a message a week or two ago again, please check your recorder. I have no problem taking the paint back and yes there will be no charges. The Buick red that we sell has been the same for almost 30 years, seems like I may have had a case or two of Duplicolor one time. But Krylon has always been what we stock. I had a talk with the Gal in our office, she does try very hard but sometime misses the point. Tim meant no harm, in our purchasing section it shows the Krylon number and the Duplicolor number, Tim thought they were the same. I have talked with everyone about when customers ask by brand name to be more specific about what they are shipping.

John Kemper, Our records show you ordered a Stage 1 cam on 3-6-07 grind #52152. I am not sure why you wanted to return it, but you were issued an RGA # on 11-18-2010 about 2-1/2 years after you purchased it. It was sent directly to Schneider to be inspected. It checked out OK according to Schneider, a credit was issued to your Discover credit card for $143.68 on 1-28-2011. A restocking charge did apply, the part was 2-1/2 years old. Our return policy is on page 1 & 2 of our catalog. It states, returns are subjected to a 15% restock fee. All shortages must be reported within 5 days of receipt of order, 1 year warranty on products MADE by TA Perf. Even Walmart has return polices.

Joe Martinell "UBUSHAUS", You stated your were shorted valves, I show you were shorted some TA1436 springs, ordered on 4-29-10. You reported it on 2-3-11 and four more springs were mailed to you, I see a $5.00 charge to you for postage, but you took 8 months to report the problem . I feel we should have just sent them, but if you have rules ether follow them or why have them.

Curtis "cstanley-gs", Not sure why the seal issue was even brought out here. You called, the next morning it went out at no charge. The seal in question I understand was a spare for you. Please.

Grand Sport Sedan, Yes we own the cores, bought and paid for by TA so the Buick community has cores on hand. We do this because no other company's want to stock Buick cores. I have to purchase large quantities just to meet there minimum production, our purchases allow other company's much larger than TA to tag onto our production order without stepping up to the plate. I have to purchase 150 to get them they purchase 25 or less. And TA stance on cam's issues is a problem for you. Well it's a problem for me as well. The reason we have folks send the cams back to Schneider is simple, they ground them and I paid them. They will end up there eventually. They need to check them out and yes I'm sure I have more clout with them and I will make all the necessary calls to fight the battle. Cams loosing lobes is another story. If we loose a lobe on an engine at TA Perf, no one gives us a new core and I have to pay to have it ground.

You know I started this business to have fun and give the Buick racer the parts all the other brands have. Those of you who know me know how hard I work at this business and what it means to me. When I read the words from those of you that feel I'm not so trust worthy or you just feel I don't care. These types of words hit me hard. I'm here 7 days a week, I get here at 6:45am and leave 7-7:30pm, I don't get to race the wagon, rarely go on vacations. I need all of you as our customers, especially in these times. I want this to be an enjoyable for all. I truly wish I had more time to participate and meet all of you, but it is what it is. So, hopefully we can win some of you back, but if not I understand.

Well Mr. T dont take it hard. I guess everyone just forgets that your not a big company and expect you to operate certain issues like you are.

i dont know you really well but we spoke a few times, also had great dealing with tim and the lady sheryle?

to me your like the Marlin Czajkowski (marlincrawler) of the buick performance scene

just a guy that got pretty much in the business cause its your passion and you love to help others feed theirs...not some guy or company just just in the business for the money and that's all..nothing more

Mike, this sucks...because thats not how my conversation went... If that were the case, you're right, I would have never commented here... Well maybe I would have, and said I had a good experience with TA...

I was told, if I wanted the right seal I had 2 options

1 - send the wrong one back on my dime (which I did), when received back by TA the correct one would be sent
2 - order another correct seal, get charged for the additional seal, and get refunded when the incorrect one arrived back at TA

I do not know the name of the gentleman I spoke to ... but I was told "nothing leaves the warehouse without being paid for" - I tried to clarify that it was not my mistake - but it didn't seem to matter.

So to avoid another charge/refund I bought a bubble envelope, paid the minimal postage and sent the duplicate seal back. I was told the correct one would ship when you got this one back

A good response from that gentleman would have been - "I'll send out the correct seal right away, please put the incorrect one back in the box and attach the postage included. If we do not receive the seal back, we'll have to charge you for it"

...Oh... and the seal in question was NOT a spare - I never said anything like that - it was actually for another local board member, a set each.

I need to chime in on this one. I've dealt with TA many times now and always first class. I even stopped by their shop a couple of years ago. These are great people. Only once did I have a problem with ordering a wrong part, and even though it was my mistake, there were no questions asked. Seems to me that just because someone had a problem, other people jump on the bandwagon. If TA wasn't here for our Buick community, where would we go? Just my .02 in support.

I also never had problems with them and it is stated in their catalog what the rules are for buying parts. Mike came here and explained the situation and that is good enough for me. Small businesses are hard to run and we really need to support them as much as we can. There you have it how would you like to be at work 7 days a week for 365 and no vacations. I worked as a printing pressman for over 30 years and you had to get the job done no matter what. My owner was there 12-16 hours a day and was there on Sat. sometimes Sunday. When I got parts from Mike he worked at the newspaper as another job while he was building up his business. How do I know? I had wrapped my heads in printing blankets before sending them to him and he commented on it when I had talked to him. How many other places can you put a performance part on layaway while you pay for it? Not Summit or Jegs. All of this crap over stupid red paint, just paint the damn thing.
