TA 1702-455B.375 3/8" valve cover gaskets are advertised as for use with TA Roller Rockers. Have any of you successfully used these gaskets for TA 1329B chrome reproduction steel valve covers over TA 1.6 aluminum roller rockers actuated by hydraulic cams with 0.504" lift on TA Stage 2 heads? Does the use of one of those gaskets under each valve cover prevent contact with the rocker arms under the circumstances described? Or was it necessary to stack up a couple gaskets to provide enough clearance? As always, thank you in advance for your responses.
I used 3/8" metal spacers for years with stock covers and roller rockers with .544/.577 lift. That is enough clearance for the rockers. I had a problem with oil leaks though. It is tough to seal up aluminum heads with stock valve covers though. JW machines the heads to make them seal up better. I finally went to a set of Poston valve covers and the new reusable TA gaskets. Perfect sealing now.
I used TAs thick gasket snd stk covers for quite awhile when I ran my 308s cam and 1.65 roller rockers
3/8" metal spacers are the gold standard for installation of sheet metal valve covers over roller rockers but I'll bet it cost a pretty penny to have someone lay out patterns and whittle them out of 3/8" aluminum (?) plate.
