    Last Friday I got in line and ordered my aluminum intake manifold. TA said that they received six production manifolds and have delivered four. One casting was defective, and the sixth is for their display. They have another batch coming, and I will get one of these.

    Still no info on their website? Any pricing yet? Are the square bore or spread bore? The picture on page 1 seems to suggest both are available.

    Both Quadrajet and Holley bore carbs can be accommodated. There are two different manifolds. I'm getting the one for Holley and AFB carbs. The price is $495.

    Hi,

    Good to hear these are becoming available, I do remember long ago some talk of AL Heads. Not sure what ever became of that, but maybe the intakes will further develop the interest in more aftermarket parts for the nailhead

    Have they listed any flow numbers in comparison to a production Buick intakes?

    I got mine a few months back. I have been patiently waiting to finish putting it back together. I can tell you its taller than the original one.

    I could be way off here but my guess is the low and mid rpm will be stronger if this intake flows better than a stock version but with the heads being the main issue with upper rpm airflow we wont see much if any improvement in peak hp. The heads are what really hold the engine back from making hp but are also the key factor in why it makes such great torque. Im going to let Mike Lewis do what he can to my heads and see what that yields for airflow.

    it would be stronger mid and upper rpm, i would think not low rpm.

    Easy way to tell. Check manifold vacuum at wide open throttle at peak rpm. If theres no vacuum present on a stock intake then the intake is not the restriction and the new intake wont make a difference in peak power.

    always thought that was to test carb size making sure it was not the restriction, never heard to do that for the intake.

    I’d be more concerned about the balance. TA did a nice job with the SP1 right out of the box for the 455. Then it only took a little work to get all the runners flowing close to each other. The stock Nailhead manifolds are poorly flow balanced. It would be nice to see how well equalized this one is?

    With direct 3D printing to sand molds, all you need these days is a good CAD draftsman. You too could have a set of heads for whatever engine you desire... literally prints the binder into the sand, with cores already in place. Can even print multiple sets of heads in one sitting.

    Completely eliminates the hours of pattern making and mold pounding to find out you didn't get the gating right, the core shifted/broke or that you need to go back and spend more hours on the patterns again...

    Tom, do you think these would fit under the stock hood on our Rivieras? I've always been told that there wasn't a ton of clearance. Also, I'd like to see the performance difference between it and a stock manifold, other than the weight savings.

    that would make it 1/8" shorter then the eelco 2x4. plus you can grind the pad down at least another 1/8" maybe 1/4" TA would know how far you can go down.
