Any body out there using 850 Thermoquads on their 455s? I ran a 1000
on the strip but haven't had any street experience with an 850.

    Glad we could help!

What would you like to know? I think the 850 Comp Series is a little more street friendly vs. the 1000 CS because of the extra venturi. Other than that, they are pretty similar, like a QJet on steroids!

I have been using one I got from Tom Rix for about 10 years now and have loved it. Very good street manners, great mileage, and performs well. I think you give up a little on the top end but for a street car I just can't complain. I run 1.72 60' times with a loosened up corvette converter leaving at an idle with 3.42 gears. I've lost a little top end over the years (108 compared to 110mph) but all in all it is a great carb. I also get 19 to 20 mpg on the highway with the overdrive.

Thanks guys I have a couple that need rebuilding. To be honest I'm a little tired of the Qjet and its little quirks. The last one I had done is fair but a little inconsistant. The 1000 TQuad I raced was consistant and easy to get along with.
