I would like to see some pics of the famous "T Hook" frame hooks installed and strapped down to trailer. I am picking up some hooks today but would like to see how others are connecting the actual "T Hook" to the frame as well as their tie down straps.

I saw some at BG but didn't take any picks and I've never used them before. Getting ready for the trip to BPG and want to use the "T Hooks" instead of the straps over the axles and front A-Arms since the car chassis is freshly painted and restored.

Someone said to put some rubber heater hose over the hook to help prevent scratching? Do you need a short piece of chain on the "T Hook" in order to get the hook end of the tie down strap connected to the "T Hook?"

    Thanks!

    Mark,

Get the "R" hooks instead. They won't damage the frame as easily at "T" hooks. They will fit in the same slots on the frame.

Yep. That is what I use to tie down mine. They will scratch the frame slightly where the pad makes contact but we will not deduct points for that. The "T" hooks have a tendency to tear the metal of the frame around the slot. The "R" hooks won't do that. NEVER use a "J" hook!

Macs is the best for trailering items. I have purchased several items from them, all have worked perfectly

Im sure this has been discussed at length in the past, but what is the advantage to tying the frame down as opposed to strapping the a frames and rear axle? I would be nervous about the chain getting slack on rough roads and tweaking the frame.

I ended up buying a tow hook cluster from Northern Tool. It has a collection of R/T/J hooks connected with larger rings to use with the strap hooks. So, all are connected in a cluster to use whichever is appropriate for your car.

I bought them the day before leaving for the GSX Reunion. We did a major roadtrip with the Reunion being only one stop. Travelled a total of 4818 miles with the car in the trailer. Not a single problem with the T hooks (E-Track was another issue:Dou: ). I would probably use the R hook next time as it seems like a larger contact area to spread the load on the frame.

The cluster hooks were about $25 a set at Northern Tool. I was going to buy just the single T hooks bit the loop was not large enough for a the strap hooks to fit....
