Hey all I have had difficulties figuring out how to be able to swap the rear end to a posi rear, and was hoping you all could help!

It has been since 2002 on my 76 but here it goes. I swapped to a 700R4 and a 8.5" 10 bolt at the same time. I used a housing that came from a 75 Nova with a 350. I used an Auburn posi (love it) and 3.42 gears, I should have gone 3.73. Even with a truly PATHETIC used and abused 231 in front of it I could still get it sideways around a corner. I want to say that I had to use the spring plates from the 8.5 on my stock springs.

skylark 77, there are 2 different ways to do this swap, first one is to upgrade the rear you already have, but im thinking since you have a 77 that you have a 7.5 rear end so I don't recommend this. the second is to find a rear that already has a posi in it. this really opens up your options, the cheapest option would be to find a GM 10 bolt 8.5 inch rear (this is the way I would go). should be easy to find one on craigslist or in a junkyard.
