please take a look at these pics w/ the SC mounted up on my 65 Buick. with less than 1 1/2" clearance no fan is going to fit between the radiator and lower cog pulley. Do you know of a great fan that is a pusher that might keep things cool? Any other thoughts..your input is appreciated.

This is what I had to switch to

but it looks like your setup has less space than mine does. May have to go pusher fans. Good luck.

Since your not running a water pump why bother with fans? Are you doing an electric pump?

    Hi Doug,

I am going to run the stock water pump and alternator just haven't installed the pulley on the crank as I don't have a single groove pulley. This is all just a mock up before I pull the engine to change pistons and cam.

    thanks

Just having some fun with you.

Really surprised by how little room you have. I run double pulleys. It is tight in the 70 but did not have to cut anything. Is that cog belt a lot wider than a 12 rib?

So lets do the math. You already have 625hp, so 8psi should put you at about 950HP:eek2: Should make a nice street car.

Yea, the cog is wider than the 10 rib I also have but w/ the spacing on the blower brackets I would be that far out w/ the rib set up. I think there is less room in the early year cars. Cooling might be an issue.

well the cog system is set up for 10 psi.....might have to change that. I will just have to hope for the best.

    Thanks

no space for a mechincal fan.....it looks like it will have to be a pusher. I have a dual spal set up but is a puller and cannot be used as a pusher. I guess I will just have to buy a new Spal pusher set up.....it is only money!

    Thanks,

Is there an intercooler up front? Your going to have a hard time cooling it with pusher fans. Perma Cool has some open flex-fan style 10" fans that might help. Keep the fan mounted as close to the outlet as possible to keep from pushing hot air back out the dead spots near the outlet. You may need to yank the fenderwells to exhaust some heat or modify them some.

    Rick,

No intercooler on the is go around. I will probably switch to an aluminum radiator and get the best pusher set up I can find. I hope it works.......

I am not able to got that route, I have check, due to my cog belt set up. The rib setup is more compact and easier to package.....or so it appears to me. This is my first attempt at supercharger so everything is new.

This is a pretty small group. I will bet there are not 25 supercharged big block Buicks in the world. So everything is breaking some form of new ground. Your65 is probably the only one!

I looks to me like your setup uses about 3/4 of an inch more than mine. I have to have an idler pulley to make the belt miss the water pump pulley. Then the it looks like the cogged crank pulley is close to 1/2 wider. This is only eye ball numbers from your photos.

Keep in touch we all have to help each other. There is no one else!

If you used the TA frame mounts, which set of mounting holes did you use?? Could you set the motor back a little farther to gain some more clearance??

yep I figured I might be the first....especially w/ the cog set up. I will work something out for sure.

The motor is in the back holes.

I will post what I came up with when I figure it out. I am pulling the motor to change pistons, cam and to dyno.

    Thanks,

    Jim,

I would say that the chances of needing an alum radiator are about 100%.. Superchargers make a lot of heat.

So you might as well pick up the new alum radiator now.. many of them I have seen have a thinner core than the brass/copper jobs, and you may find that you end up with just enough room to squeeze a standard electric puller fan in. Probably two smaller ones would be your best bet.

It is on the list! Love those "chili Bowls".....I will get the motor pulled here shortly and crated up for shipment soon.

    Thanks everyone!

Move the engine back a couple of inches :Do No: It should be a pretty easy task for a chassis/fabrication shop to do. With the distributor in the front you don't have much to worry about when moving it back. Or maybe find a slimmer radiator or move the radiator forward?

The Ron Davis package TA Performance sells is pretty compact, but it's quite expensive at $1095
