Made it to the final 16 in the Summit Super Series! Going to Memphis to race for all the marbles on Oct. 10 & 11, so I need all the positive thoughts and words of wisdom you can muster. Go Buick! Thanks, Scott
WTG! I race in the series down here but have never made it far enough in the points standing to go anywhere. Good Stuff!
Scott was this with your dragster or your son's? Either way Congrats to you guys for your efforts and round wins:TU::TU::TU::TU::TU::TU::TU::TU::TU: What is the chance you can make it just a little further East a few days later to run at Bowling Greenray: I figured I'd ask:grin: Great job again As for wisdom:Smarty:Run each round against yourself not the guy in the other lane. Just do what you have been doing to get to the finals.
Very wise indeed. Stay away from caffeine/nicotine on race day. I always loved seeing the guy I was going to race against light up a cigarette, probably had close to a 95% win rate when that happened. Also relax, I always had more fun and did better when I relaxed. Go cut a light and run your number, we are rooting for you!
I'ld love to go to bowling green, but it's going be hard enough to get away from my shop and car washes to begin with. I've been racing my '66 special this year along with our stock eliminator cars. We are building a couple 470's for the dragsters, so we haven't had them out this year. Hoping my son's car will go in the 7's. I've owned my '66 for about 25 years. It won me my first track championship and many races since. I wasn't going to chase points this year, but I started out winning the first 2 out of 4 races, plus an "ironman", so I stayed with it. Tied for the SSS points and beat a mid 7 second dragster for the runoff. My name then went into a lotto drawing and got picked. Still can't believe it. I'm 5 rounds ahead for the track championship, with around 10 rounds left. If I do well this weekend, I can lock it up then go into test mode to get ready for Memphis. This car is not as good as my dragster, but I usually tree most people I race. If I'm not cutting .015 or better lights, somethings wrong. It runs mid 11's. Although I've had this car a long time, I don't have many pictures, but I'll try to upload some later. I usually stay pretty calm when I race. I don't drink any more, or use caffine or tobacco, so that helps. . Thanks, Scott
Here's a few pictures of the '66 and my son's 71. Didn't quite lock up my championship yet but with 1 race to go this weekend, I'm 5 rounds ahead with 5 or less rounds left, so I like my chances. I've been making a few changes to my car and I think its working as good as ever. Gonna change out my transbrake button this weekend. Missed the light a bit 2nd round last week with a .013, the guy I raced had a .005 and went on with a 4. Tough to deal with. Scott
You should see it with our stock eliminator cars on it. I'm taking the car hauler to Memphis instead of my enclosed trailer. The car hauler will get around 12 mpg towing two cars. We'll probably look like a low budget deal down there, but I don't care. Here's a picture of my wagon Scott
good luck,i was leading our hotrod points til aweek ago.lost first round and 4th place guy got hot and won.he's 4 pts ahead now with 3 races left.30 points out there to get.i'm gonna hit it hard.wish i could get the tree like you!! i can usually go .030 or better, but traction has been a problem lately.go get em!!
I can cut really good lights in my dragster, but this car is as good or better. I think one of the reasons this car leaves so consistently, is because I have a throttle controller and it doesn't come on until the transbrake releases. So it leaves like a footbrake car. Just get up on the wheel, focus, and smack that light! Scott
Cool. Although I have more 70-72's, I've always liked the 65-67's. I've had this car for over 20 years, it knows what it's doing. Scott
I run Top ET with this car. At our track, the Top ET and Top Dragster classes run together for the Summit points. Scott
Scott, Congrats and Best of Luck on your races in Memphis. Me, I'm just an occasional racer for fun, but I enjoy the heck out of it when I do. When I saw your and Ron's 66's pix, thought I'd post one of mine on the trailer after our spring Temple races. Love the 66 post coupes! Bring home the Buick bacon! Steve
