    Here:

So this was Ed Sullivan of CA, however I lost his phone number and have nont been able to get it again. It would be nice to get a hold of him to clearify how fast it was and what exactly was used. It seems this was the highest HP NA ever built. I know Sonny Seal was at about 580 hp, PAE had the 551 hp 350, Roger Reed was about 480 hp. If Eds 350 was up to close to 700 hp NA that is pretty impressive! Apparently Mike Jr At TA has his custom con rods now for his build.

I have to some how find his #!

And who has the level 3 Gessler ported heads and hogan intake?

Gessler said that these heads he did for Ed were the highest flowing 350 heads he had done. These are pics on his web site and the reason for the epoxy was that the hogan intake was for a chevy and it used custom adapter plates. To create a smooth transition to the heads from the intake the ports in the heads were raised.

Well the only Buick related thing I'm doing right now is waiting for a pan from JW (no rush) for my 470.

I purchased an old house and am remodeling the inside. Removing walls, hard wood flooring etc. So between this and the business we started 2 years ago my pallet is pretty full.

A 350 has a 2" rod journal already and the cranks are cast. Making it any small would not be a wise decision.

well i guess bobb makely is a dummy for also doing it and adding a procharger on top of it cause it's been holding up :3gears:
and not to mention its been done once or twice before him

but yea I get yea it aint wise to make the crank thinner, but if it holds up to an app like that it cant be too worrysome, aslong as the rotating assembly is balanced well and its not like you need to rev it to the moon to make power :-D

I Still plan do build one for project apollo once I get my TTlark build done

i dont know how to operate a cell phone, digital camera, program a vcr(remember those), wear a watch and a host of other stuff or win the lotto. but, i can read thru the metal, if you can understand that. all in all, its not that amazing. its pretty boring after a while.

We stripped my engine last month after the pistons melted and the Mechanic started taking measurments and making calls to his friends and he feels confident a custom ground bullit proof crank with Honda rods is the way to go. Make her a stroker with fuel injection on Marks single plane intake with the two turbos. He wants to get the purists talking.

I think if I were to build a 350, my energy would be on building a positive deck height engine where the pistons came into the head recessed combustion area enough to get ideal quench. Then I would push the compression to the hairy edge. In my mind, this would squeeze every last inch of power out of whatever you could get through some ported heads.

Because the 350 has an open chamber head, it is on little use to get the piston to zero deck other than raising the compression.

One thing that does help the 350 breath is to max out the bore size after sonic checking. If you can go 80 over the engine will breath much better than stock bore.

You can use the flat top pistons from a 3.0 Liter GM V6 to get about 12:1, I have a 12 of these just have not used them yet.

That is what I am getting at. I would not go zero deck. I would go positive deck and put the piston out of the hole. I would push it right up in the the head until I got ideal quench. Then it will take more compression without detonation. Compression is how us old school guys would help make up for heads that don't flow as well as others.

    I see... Interesting thoughts.

That is what Sonny Seal did, I think. He was at about 13:1 compression and was the fastest full weight NA 350 powered Skylark so he did something right.

One really exciting thing for the SBB is the roller cams that are out now for the 350. I have a roller cam that is going into a NA Buick 350 race car and I expect good gains and better street manners.

Another thing the 350 really needs to make good power NA is a better intake manifold. Thankfully Mark Burton has built me and a few others a nice single plane intake.
