So last night Im on the road staying the night in IL 3.5 hrs away from home, got a call at 4:am from my wife that our garage was on fire, fully engulfed , and the roof collapsed ..

WTF??? huh ... she was woken up by loud bangs , went to see if it was an intruder, nope it was our garage in flames.

The bangs were from my tires popping......

Lost everything in the garage including the Regal known as Stg1Regal........

My son made this little tribute collage for me.... :ball: :ball:

Sorry for your loss, what a nightmare.... hours from home and no way to do anything about it. I've often thought of what I'd do if the house was on fire.... would I try to get the Buick out of the garage after the family/pets were out, or would I play it safe and let her go. Hopefully the insurance company takes care of you and you can rebuild.

    Glad everybody is okay.

I am VERY SORRY to hear this, Chris.:mad::mad:

I got to "watch" mine burn to the ground years back (Scotty Pee-Gee 455 Regal in 1998).
Your motor, tranny and rear are fine, right???

One door closes ONLY to open one BETTER.

Thanks for the kind words guys.... I'm just glad it didn't get to my house wich is about 30' away .

As you can see it was so hot and intense it turned everything into ashes. That big white box on the right side of my car is/was my deep freezer , all the food inside was burned to ashes, so hot and intense they called in 4 Fire Departments , the flames and glow could be seen around a couple miles away.

I did get the hood up, first initial glance the engine seems ok sans the wires and cables, where the trans mounted to the engine looked ok, but haven't got to any tools,( if any are left that are useable,) to turn the engine over with... I do have some engine pics I will get up shortly, mainly shot thru the gap on the drivers side of the hood.

thats really tough to look at .. I think all of us look at this as our worst nightmare.

My garage is only 6' from my house at the closest point. I'm usually very careful about not leaving ANYTHING plugged in when I leave it .. in fact I used to throw the main breaker on the sub panel on my way out. Maybe I'll start doing that again ..

.. really sorry for your loss - If they determine a cause keep us informed so we may try to at least learn from this sad experience.

... SCOTTY at Pee-Gee Performance in Brooklyn at the time of my 455-Regal-burn told me to do THIS; ... 3-cans of MARVEL MYSTERY OIL in the motor, then remove a few spark plugs especially near the front of the motor, then turn the crank pulley a few rotations by hand or wrench ... and watch the WATER squirt out of the 455 like a water gun.

My 455 lived on after that fire until some idiot stole the Regal from me.
