    Hi,
As some know I am doing a factory original resto on my 71 Riviera. On the trans there used to be the 2 letter code (BC) stenciled on the pass side near the engine. I am unable to make out for sure, what color it used to be. I am suspecting white, since that is what I have seen in the past on A bodies, and it kind of looks white still. I've attached a pic, but all I can tell for certain is size and position.

    Thanks IMG_5224.JPG

I have seen them in white, pink and yellow. I'm not sure there is a color coding vs transmission coding color difference. I'm curious about the color of the transmission tag on the side of the case. I have several Th400's that are the same exact code but different colors on the tag. My theory is that they are like the tie on a loaf of bread, the color denotes what day/shift the transmission was built on.

I am fairly sure the tag color is one color per year, based on my experience parting out 3rd gen Rivieras. And the sellers of the repop tags show them as such.

As for the paint, I went with flat, white on my trans. I am happy with the look. Photo attached

My 71 BB was black. At least that’s what it appears. That’s the stencil color and not the tag. He is looking for stencil color.

As far as tags, 71 was light blue and 72 is yellow. I think 70 was black.
