    Hello,

I have been working on my dads car, and we want to switch his 1969 GS hood for a stock 69 Skylark hood and install a stage II scoop. He currently has a dominator on it, so he is running a 16 inch air cleaner which looks like it will barely fit under the scoop and we are worried it might be to close to work.

Does anyone on here have a stage II scoop with a 16 inch air cleaner, and if so what did you do to make it work?

Thanks in advance and have a good day,

    Gary Lewis

I should've mentioned that this is a street car, so it will need an actual air cleaner.

    Thanks for the suggestion.

Long time no chat!!! Just cut the opening under the scoop like mine and you will have lots of room. This is a glass hood but it turned out good. Mine was to make room for the boost charge pipe but the same idea:

I used the VFN stage 2 scoop but it needed a bit of work to make it fit well... I heard TA performance has some scoops for sale too.

Yeah Sean, I have not been on here much. Its funny how when the car is running and working how you stop going to forums! The solution that we came up with is buying a 14" air cleaner. They only sold 16" for a 4500 series carb for some time, but apparently you can get a 14" now, and that seems like the easiest solution.

Thanks for all advice on this!

We made a pan that uses dense foam to seal to the under side of the hood, then drop a 14" K&N down and top it with a 14" lid. I can take pictures and post them if you like. I incorporated a K&N Stub Stack into the base and the whole set-up worked out well for the street, though when at the drag strip I remove the filter, top, and stud.
