I recant. I see a pic added of a 246 carb the engine pic supposed to show it matches the vin and he has a cowl tag but its removed. 2300 for this has to be top value even with that carb which appears to be rough
28 10 = Diplomat Blue with white painted top.. claims to have #'s SS engine, pic of a 246 carb, stage 1 fuel pump, BB trans...
Damn, George. This car has more rust than the cars we (in the South/Southwest) are used to seeing on cars from your area. :Brow: Did you get your payment in the mail? - Ken
Yes, thank you :dollar: . And haahaaahaaaa. Up here, that car would be considered 'restoreable' :bla: ou: ou:
Yeah re "stored" from the trailer to a bar, yard, garage:bla: :bla: Someone surely is bidding on needed parts not to build a Skylark GS stage 1 All original with numbersuzzled: matching engine , carb and trans:moonu:
Log the VIN number or attach it to this thread. When she shows up in a year or two for sale... John- you're right. Trailer, driveway, garage, back to the driveway, then yard, then 'secret' garage, so on, so on...:spank: :bglasses: At least a pic of the trim tag.. I did see a ? partial VIN from the block- 644...
I agree. I think the car sale will be quiet and it will ride off into a garage to be dismantled and show up on another car ... how many parts and what parts will be transferred, I don't know, but it will be quiet.
446370H164489 diplomat blue with white painted top std blue bench 10th of May build date 86412 body number Built in flint looks to be a legit stage 1 car but whats really going to be useable
Actually the build date is the 5th week of October '69. I thought our '70 was rough and rusty until I saw this one! This is the roughest Stage 1 I've ever seen. I would bet money that the codes stamped into the axle tube on the rearend are not legible. The block is probably seized and if it isn't cracked, I would imagine that some sleeves might be required due to excessive rust in the cylinders. The trans is probably salvagable, but a BB trans alone wouldn't be anough to justify the cost of this car. A buyer has to also consider the cost of going to get the car and if they are traveling a long distance that could add up to a bunch more $. All I can say is that the high bidder must see something that I don't see. Also, a person would be foolish to rebody a car that was for sale on eBay because too many people see it, and track it in case it resurfaces. I've seen it happen before and it's interesting to hear them try to say it wasn't a rebody. I'm just glad this car didn't go directly to the crusher and at least will provide some parts for another Buick.
Exactly my thinking. Who would spend that kind of money for drivetrain components that won't even match another stage car? That is, unless, the plan was to rebody. If it were to be bought for the sole purpose of completing another car, there comes a point where reason has to take precedence over having all the correct coded parts. IMHO, this is what sucks the fun right out of the hobby for guys like me who just want to have fun and drive and enjoy their cars. $2000 for a quadrajet? Really? I guess I'll be using my 70 riviera block to motivate my stage 1.o No:
By next summer some proud owner will be at a car show with his nice rust free granny skyl, I mean stage 1 car.......:TU:
My thoughts exactly Gary. The farm animals are in the pen. If the fox comes around the farm, he will be easily seen, thanks to V8buick.
I love some of the questions posted...............(has a $3000 offer on it) LOL I had to laugh but look at where its at price wise. That car is one that could NOT be saved unless it was rebodied. I would almost count on it happening too.
The debris and overall rusry condition of the car looks like the ones I've seen that went swimming during Katrina, not that it matters much in this case. Somebody must have a game plan for this car, and I hope it's a legal plan!
