I seem to remember something about him not allowed to run Stage 2 heads in Super Stock due to low production of the heads? But that was 50 years ago....anyone else who may have brain cells firing better than me remember?

GSJohnny1- the 72 GS, white (no vinyl top), tan gut, 4 speed, Stage 1 was sold to a jeweler in Barrington, Bill T. Bill drove it while his 70 Cuda 440 6 BBL, red, white interior was parked in the garage next to it. He bought it new in East Providence at Harris Chrysler Plymouth. I went to the house and tried to buy the GS but old Bill didn't want to sell it yet. I gave him my name and number and said put it in the glovebox and call me when you decide to let it go. He never called and the car was sold to someone. His son cooked the engine in it one night and St Angelo put a new engine in under the factory warranty. In the early 2000's I went to a guy's house in North Attleboro, MA to buy some Buick parts and in the guy's garage was Bill T's 72 GS. I knew more about the car than he did. I still know where it is. My good friend John installed the replacement engine at the dealership. The 72 GS car is still around but the new owner put a vinyl top on it. The story doesn't end...In the end, I bought Bill's 440 6 BBL Cuda, with shaker hood and elastomeric bumpers. I did a rotisserie restoration and I still have it.

go you one better. after not getting to buy the car, i was still looking. that summer, people were giving up their 'gas cars'. just before i ordered the 73, a guy in e.hartford ct had a 70 hemi cuda, 4spd, brown on brown on brown with racer brown stuff. could have bought for 3000. thought about it and said nah. then i went to order the 73. who knew. lol

I didn't buy my red Cuda until 1998. I never liked Mopars growing up. I passed on a 71 Hemi Cuda for $2900, brown, in August of '74. Probably the same car. I looked at it in East Providence and the guy was getting divorced. I went on to buy a Superbird, 4 speed and a 69 RR convertible in later years, both of which I still have but my favorite cars are my Buicks, hands down!
You can still buy that white 72 GS Stage 1 4 speed that was at St Angelo Buick when you first saw it!

before i started the gs club, i could have bought 3 gsx's for under 10k.
    damn...stupid memories don't pay
