    Hmmm

"Should I take the screw out of the cut off return line on the gas tank "

    That cannot be helping.....

Like the "boys" said, get it to the track and let the boys have a crack at it..

This is an intriguing problem that I think EVERYBODY wants to hear the solution to.

Get a beater computer and use $8.95 a month dial up at home, then you could bounce stuff like this off everyone "as you go"..hell, set up the computer in your garage like I have [laptop, I move it back and forth]

I dated a FEMALE funeral director [ figured I better CLARIFY that before y'all skewer me! ] a few years back..very nice lady, had PLENTY of money , very polite, kind..unfortunately VERY quiet ....Too quiet...I talk alot, but, also need at least SOME talk in return :boring: .....had to goto a wake last night, bumped into her, still the same , polite, kind, sweet....QUIET. :puzzled:

You think YOUR day sucked ? I was in the freekin HOSPITAL from 8 am till about 4 hours ago [now 12 am] half dead....massive inner ear infection, sick, etc, etc. be a while before I get to do any racing , living vicariously through your misadventure...so try , try again kiddo , wouldnt want to let an ill Buick fan down now would ya?

Keep making lists of what you have tried, what happens, and what doesnt happen..also we all are assuming the timing and such are dead on, valves are all operating properly [ no "lazy springs" or other such oddities ]..its a process of elimination , and not the kind of "elimination" under the outhouse !

You don't want to sell yer cars, you know that german stuff can get booring after a while [ try workin on THAT car in depth like I am mine...THAT will sure make you run screaming and crying back to your good ol' GS !! :pp ]..you LOVE your Buicks , even when they are being a pain, you still love em !

We're ALL pulling for ya Dee :TU: Keep the faith 'cause in BUICK you can trust ! :TU: :TU: :TU:

Best of luck , take deep breaths and imagine the JOY you will feel once you find the solution to this problem !!!!!! :3gears:

Red wire is fine. Still has the plug on the end. If I remember correctly one of the three lines on the tank was plugged with a screw and the other 2 were attached to the return and the line to the pump. The return line is plugged at the fuel pump since there's not a place to plug it into the pump. Wondered if I should unplug that vent line on the tank?

Tried running the car with the gas cap loose. No difference. Ordered a new cap and will look at it when it comes in tonight. They couldn't tell me if it was vented or not.

As for the funeral director. The girls here at work and the funeral director said the same about always having a job/money. I said YUCK, NO WAY JOSE', GROSS, DISGUSTING, YICKY, ETC.

My cousin promised me one of her many extra computers 6 months ago. She never came through. Was even willing to start internet service just to use it. Don't want to buy a new one because I WILL have problems with it. So to ward off another possible problem, I'm not buying a new one just to have to pay Geeks on Wheels to come to my house to fix it. I'm not computer (only software) savy.

I use to be able to believe in "In Buick I Trust", but the only thing my Buicks have done lately is get me in trouble in more ways than one.

Since I don't have a man around to hender me by my thinking, "Oh I'll just let him work on it", most all of my knowledge has come back. I use to tear these cars down by the dozens and put several together to sell back in the '80's and early '90's to make money. So if I can't solve the problem on the GS myself, I don't think anyone else is going to figure it out.

The previous owner had problems with it too, just not sure what time frame he had problems, before or after I saw him run on a 13.3 dial-in.

Engine is strong. No problems there.

I took up my car hobby again after figuring I'd never get married and have kids since I was already in my mid-thirties. Now that I'm almost 40, think I'm going to give up on the cars, find a husband, and start popping out babies like all "good women" should.   If find a husband and having kids goes like my attempt to revive my car hobby, I'll never get married and have kids or I'll end up with a young, pudgy funeral director. :eek2:

So after working on the car for another 4 hours last night and another at least $30 in gas for running it up and down the freeway, and no one calling to lend a hand to at least get it where it will run to Temple, it's not going to the races this weekend or probably ever. After 3 years and bad runs everytime it goes to the track, you get the idea.

Yep, BIG pity party going on today. I have been under the hood, the car, the dash for 6 months now doing all sorts of maintenance stuff to the car and it's only gotten worse. Got to be smart and admit when it's time to give up.

Thought I had joy last Thursday night when I actually got a tire boiling run out of it (first and only time I've ever actually "got-on-it" on the street - against my better judgement). Joy came to an end fast when Johnny Law was sitting on the other side of the hill waiting on me. I even made a drive-by to make sure no one was around. I think God is telling me to take the hint and get out while the getting is still good (or I can at least maybe get my money back out of the car).

So I can't play with the Big Buick Boys even though I've been into Buicks over 20 years. That sucks! :af:

Thanks for the advice everyone. I really appreciate it! :TU:

Dee -- This is crazy talk I am hearing. Marriage, kids, sell the car??? Man, you have hit rock bottom .

Is there no one on this board that lives in the DFW metroplex that can help her out??? I find that very hard to believe.

    Oh well...

Sorry to hear it all Dee, wished I could have helped you out...gheesh it ran 13.3 dial..and now this.....bummer.

My attempt at family and parenthood sent me running back INTO my car hobby from the late 80's and early 90's...just reverse huh ? lol .

If I ever do think of another cause of that kind of problem I'll send the thought to you anyway, take a break from it and do something for you this weekend then....we all have times where we have to walk away once in a while, its not a pitty party, its life on earth.....it sucks :( ..but its life....dont get too down over it......

And we KNOW you can do better than any ol' pudgy funeral director..

Like maybe one of the many many pudgy Buick guys ! :pp

Smile anyway...... it pisses off the gremlins!

Advance weights should move pertty easy, if you have lighter springs installed. Not stiff by any means even with stock springs. Yes, you are grasping at straws...
Spade terminal on the HEI connection is just fine. (That's what I have.) No need for the factory black plastic connector; it only makes it easier to line the plug up right on installation.

I have all the data from the runs we recorded last week if anyone wants me to e-mail them so maybe someone can come up with some ideas.

But as of this moment, I have given up on it. I have had enough.

I got back into cars because my relationships sucked. Got into a relationship because of a car and it sucked. Alone with the cars and it sucks. Alone with none of the bother or disappointment of working on the cars and not getting anywhere seems like a good alternative to everything sucking.

My dream of having the big 2 car enclosed trailer and toting 2 Buicks around to different Buick events, like the Garrisons :Brow: , isn't going to happen. So have to pursue some other dream now.

Don't think I'm going to find anyone worthy of my brains and beauty :Dou: to have children with much less a decent relationship, so I'll die childless, familyless, and car-less because I'm not going to settle for anything but the best. Someone sorta like me! :puzzled: :eek2:

Going to finish up the Buick stuff this year by going to the races and then retire what once was my passion for cars. Too much headache and no reward. All I get are strange looks when I drive the beater GS around town or when I'm laying under it in some sort of puddle of the day. Guess it was okay in my teen and twenties when I had close friends to share the fun and we all lived close to each other and hung out in each other's garage. They're all gone, married and have children (but no cars).

Just an old woman trying to re-live her past. Not just a pity party, but reality really setting in. :Smarty:

    Another Burgundy GS update...

Finally got around to pulling the governor. I'm happy to report, it was quite smurfed up. There is a swagged joint where the stamped steel head that holds the weights is attached to the machined steel valve. This joint was loose, keeping the weights from moving the piston, even at full extension.
Should be good to go!!! :3gears:

It does seem to be one thing or the other, doesn't it? Two Bashes ago I went to do a simple fluid change, found debris in the pan, and took it to Mike Kurtz's, where the intermediate sprag was changed. (By the way, not the source of the debris, which remains a mystery...)
Last Bash it was hunting gears at WOT, which, I think, I have solved with this governor change.
(Interstingly, during the motor swap I found debris very similar to the "mystery" transmission debris, in the engine oil pan....) Oh the mysteries....
Keeping my fingers crossed. Dewey was adamant--no more heavy labor before Temple!!!

If I did not already have my own family, I think I probably would. Seems like a golden opportunity to help out a beautiful woman (thus scoring brownie points that could lead to a relationship down the road) and work on a car at the same time.

Like I said, I cant believe that no one on this board is leaping at this :Do No:. A classic damsel in distress situation.

    Aw Shucks.........

Lol ! Well I would but I live half a country away AND I think she could do better than ol ' yours truly ! :Brow:

I'd just like to hear/see her get her car running right [ that and go CRUSH a few guys driving other brands at the drags :TU: ] Nothing the Mopar/Chevy/Ford boys hate worse than being beat by a Buick than to be beat by a Buick owned/operated by a hot lady that wont give em the time of day ! :TU: :TU: :TU:

A videotape of THOSE facial exspressions would be PRICELESS !!!!!!

Here's a priceless facial expression for: "Did you really think my GS was going to make it down the track this time? Ha, FAT CHANCE!!!!" :af:

This is from the last Bash in December after making successful passes on the 1/8th track in Denton. Thought I had the problem licked, but NOT!!!!! :af:

And here is a card I received after my tuning guru friend from Austin left after hooking up his tuning equipment to my car.

I feel like it's a condolences card after his encounter with the car. :ball: What do you think?

Hey, that is just meant for encouragement!!!

I'm still gonna be :af: and open a can of whoop ass on you next time I see you if you don't show up tomorrow :blast: :spank:

  18. 70 Skylark Conv

    70 Skylark Conv Well-Known Member

Yeah, sure, encouragement!!!! THAT (pushing it) is the only way my car will make it down the track or down the street!

Or I can just pop my feet through the rusted floor pan and pedal like Fred Flintstone. It will go lots faster that way!

I think I've pissed off most of the LSPBC guys with my ranting and ravings, so I think I might just stay at home and hide. :ball:

I am quite depressed about giving up the car hobby. I've had enough. All it has gotten me is trouble and less $$$. I'm going to BG and Salem and then that's it.

I'm going into gardening, I'm going to start buying clothes, make-up, having my nails done, and having my hair done at the salon like most women do. I'm going to try to be normal for once in my life and maybe end up better off than I am now!

    carguy455 Buickus Insanimous

I think your quite normal NOW, and dam cool to boot !

I can put my feet through the floors in MY 70GS455 conv...lol :(

According to the data you sent, it sure looks like it is running LEAN to me, will do more investigation this weekend.. :puzzled:

Gardening ? OK, you can redo all the neglected flowerbeds here at my farm if I solve the GS mystery....

Now, Dee, how can you turn away Nick's plea? If there isn't someone who can fix your car there in Temple, then it's possessed and we should probably bury it. No, I guess it couldn't be possessed, unless it's a really stupid demon. Anyway, let's say you ARE considering getting rid of it... cars that don't run well, don't sell well. So, at least if you get it there and it gets fixed (which I'm sure it would)... then you have a much more sell-able car and you'll only wind up getting more for it, which would more than pay for your expenses to attend. Sold yet?

Oh come on... please? and I don't even know you... it just sounds like such a fabulous cause... and a cool story for the event.
