Evening I’ve got a 1969 Buick gs California with trim code color 103 which is supposed to be Buckskin I tried to get a can of SEM paint “light buckskin” and it’s too tan so I’m looking. To see what others are doing to get a better color match

    thanks

Get the code numbers on Autocolor library and either order pints from them or call APS tower paints and they will mix in spray bombs for you. I have used them both and found colors to be spot on. Use the PPG and not the DuPont. I find it’s more accurate color. Remember there are two gloss levels. Flat for upper dash areas because it’s non glare and semi gloss for lower dash.

You need to go to second page. According to chart you are dark sandalwood. Chart shows each part and gloss level they should be. I doubt you can find SEM in correct shade.

Looks like Tower Paints is gone so stick with Auto color library. Maybe they can do the spray bombs?

Take a part to the local paint store and have them mix and color match it then you can put it one if the spray bomb deals if you don't have a small compressor and a cheap paint gun

Have them mix it in base coat or some of the paint lines have a dedicated binder for making it a "dye"

Thanks everyone.. according to the body tag 103 is buckskin but I don’t see that on the autocolor library

SEM has another color selection library under the "marine" name. I found a perfect match for my 64 off white color at the boat marina.

Actually as stated that link to the flyer shows it as “dark sandalwood”?

The link that Dave provided is here:
    https://www.autocolorlibrary.com/pages/1969-Buick.html#open-modal2

There are tabs at the top of the "page" that allow you to view page 2 (This confused me at first).
When you click to page two it shows the interior codes.

    where did you see Buckskin?

I guess one of those sources is wrong. I can't remember off hand if the chassis manual has this info?

  13. I have heard before that the 1969 Buckskin and 1970 Sandalwood are the same colors.

I too ran into this issue with my 1970 Sandalwood interior. I was able to call Tower Paint in Wisconsin and give them the trim code. They mixed me spray cans of the darker dash color based on that. The lighter color in the interior was not available from them. I had to use the Sandalwood "41" generic paint available from The Parts Place, Ground Up and Ames. Ames Pontiac's "41" Sandalwood was the closest light color compared to the cans from everyone else.

I used the codes at The link I gave for 71 Dark saddle and it was right. I would trust them. It comes in pints and quarts but not sure on spray bombs.
