I need to buy a new speedometer cable for my 4-speed conversion. I have looked at Year One, but can't decipher which cable is correct. This is for a '68 GS400 with Muncie, speedo connects to the right side with no adapter. Can anyone tell me the proper length cable to buy. Thanks.

Sorry I didnt catch your first post but I hope you didn't order from OPGI. I ordered their "69" cable only it must have stretched 6 inches in transport. I called and they said the had a mixup and they would call me if they had the right one (never did) and send me a call tag (got it). Got one from Rock auto, waaay too long. Finally found this guy http://www.speedometersolutions.com/speedometer_cable.htm
They make them to order and they are supposed to be a better quality than the made in china stuff. They even offer a high heat tube.
    Wicked expensive though!!

No, I ordered it from Year One. They say in their catalog "new GM" whatever that means. I see that a lot and wonder if it means I could just go down to my local GM dealer and get it. Guess I'm just to lazy to find out. Anyway, like most things I've ordered from them, it's backordered. I can't understand these places. They talk big, but have nothing in stock! I've tried to stay away from OPGI due to stories such as yours. I think all these places carry the same stuff made by the same people anyway.

Thats funny I called year one first (3-4 weeks ago) and they said it was discontinued with no replacement. BTW it was new GM too.
    Good Luck

Hello All, How about the length of the speedo cable that goes on a '65 GS with the Dearborne 3 speed ? It attaches on the passenger side.
    Thanks,

    The cable itself (not the casing) = GM#6453308 = 69 1/8"

Ok I'm still trying to get a cable from my supplier after over a month, local place, but am ready to go else where. So far there is one positive source, except for price, posted. What I want to know is where is everyone getting their cables from. I hope to get a number of feedbacks since an aweful lot of you are converting to 4 speeds.

I bought an year one 81" speedo cable - ineer & outer complete - $11.00, just last month.

I realise it is about 12" too long but it does an easy sweep and I can live with that.

I got mine from Year One. They said it wasn't in stock, but I got it within about a week anyway. 69" was $47 which includes shipping.
