    Hi all

As I have been unable to obtain a spare tire board, I am going to try making my own. So could someone kindly measure their board and give me the overall diameter and and the diameter of the hole in the centre.

    Thanks much

    Sorry Randy,

I hadn't forgotten you, but, it's been about 140*F in the loft where mine is stored so I wasn't lasting very long up there. You'll be happier with one you make than with the one I have.

Reproductions are available if you don't want to make one. Forget the supplier but did buy one of the internet a few years ago.

No worries Matt. I picked up a piece of Masonite from Lowes and I already have the paint needed, so why not give it a shot.

I know about the repros, but it seems they are back ordered. They are about $30. That combined with the high shipping costs to Canada, will probably top out near $70.oo U.S. My piece of Masonite from Lowes was $7.00, so I will try my own. I am sure what I am doing is not much different from what the repro companies are doing.

    Cheers

    Hi Brian

Here are a couple of shots of my tire board. All I need to get now is the board holder. I had one, but damn if I can find it.

Total cost out of my pocket this week was $7.00 Cdn., as I had the black paint and the aqua speckles left over from my previous car. Much cheaper than approximately $50-70 U.S.

That looks fantastic, Randy! What did you use to get such a clean cut?

    Thanks Brian.

I used a jigsaw and then sanded the edge with an orbital palm sander.

You could have it shipped to someone in US that lived close and have them just frisbee it over the border and hope it lands in a soft snow bank. :D

Very nice job, Randy. I like the price, too. Is the material thickness close to the original?

    Thanks Matt.

IlliniGSX Jim said that the original boards are 5/32" thick. Mine is 1/8" (4/32") thick, which is close enough for me.

You got the circle nice. I figured that would be tough.

I think the judges have calipers?

I deliberately leave a few things wrong on my car. That way I don't stress the judges, by having them need to search hard for defects. I really think I am doing them a favour;)

    Thanks Brett.

Just add this to the hood tach and battery decals that I make.
