I didn't think the gaskets change size. I was thinking on just doing the .30 over that way if I need to refresh the engine again at some point I have the room to do so. I'm also just using reconditioned stock rods, I'm not getting onto the whole BBC rod offset crank grind stroker train.

I ran stk rods till my last motor.....they are pretty strong.......just weigh your options...I would think most of .038 over pistons are of a better quality than .030.

I'm going to order a set of autotec pistons from JW for this engine. I just need to figure out the best option for the bore size.

Talk to Jim about that. I'm sure he will have pros and cons for both. Autotech makes decent stuff from what I read, never personally used myself.

I'm currently in discussions about that with him. I'll update the thread once we have a conclusion.

UPDATE: Pistons were ordered and are now here, big shout out to JW for these sweet babies:cool:. I will be taking them to my machine shop on Wednesday to have the rotating assembly balanced. Fingures crossed to have everything back in a week or two for assembly:). I ordered all the AN fittings and line for the oil bypass line and will be picking that up Wednesday also. Stay tuned for more progress. 20210322_135612.jpg 20210322_135553.jpg

Did you end up going .030 or .038 over?

Neither actually. I was able to clean it up at a 4.325 bore, 10.55 deck height and my pistons are setup for 0 deck with 26cc notches.

JW asked if my block would clean up at 4.320 or 4.325. 4.320 is standard mopar 440 bore size. My block being 4.325 bore size works out to be 458.4 displacement. We chose this size to keep more meat in the block and to have room for a few rebuilds if necessary.

Oh I understand, you will never see the difference 6 cubes makes.....hell the dyno would be likely to not see it
