I'm really frustrated at this point, and I'm hoping someone would be able to figure out whats wrong before i start arbitrarily replacing things.

I found an edelbrock rpm intake in my garage, and my uncle gave me a holley double pumper, so i figured i'd put them on my car. I got everything on, but the holley turned out to be too much carburetor for the little 305. Luckily my dad had an old q-jet in our attick. I cleaned it all up and put that on the car instead. I also changed the oil, spark plugs, spark plug wires, oil filter, and i decided to put some chrome valve covers on to dress the engine up a bit.

The car ran like a dream, better than ever. However, i was stupid enough to tighten the valve covers too much. So i pull the car into the street and my father comes out to check out my handy work. He wants to see if the car would spin the tires, so i step on the brake and mash the gas (idiot). I got my one-tire-fire going good so i take off down the road, but when i reach the end of my street, my car starts bogging down and wants to stall. I go up the adjacent street and around the block back to my house, but when i give it gas it wont rev at all. I don't have a tach in the car, but i'm guessing it wasnt going above 1000 rpm. so i limp back home and notice all this smoke coming from under my hood... and the distinct smell of burning oil. of course oil was leaking from the valve covers on to my exhaust manifolds.

So i decide to let it sit and i venture off to the auto parts store and get new gaskets. I get home and check my oil level and i'm down half a quart. So i change the gaskets and add some oil, and the leaks stopped, but the car is still running like crap. I checked under the distributor cap, and i realize the carbon brush is broken, so i decided to just replace the whole coil for good looks, but the same thing is going on. My uncle who is a mechanic told me the car wasn't getting enough voltage to even be running, and i'd need a new ignition control module. Some of the plugs were a bit fouled with carbon, but not oily. I'd assume thats not enough voltage, but the car still starts right up. Its only when in drive or when warmed up that it acts all crazy.

Let me know what you guys think, and sorry for the long story.
