Our little barn cat is missing this morning. She lives in the feed room of the shed. Sleeps on the hay. We checked om her late last night and she was safe and sound in the shed. This morning, she's no where to be found. I cant underastand how she could of gotten very far. There was only a path from the house to the shed. Im praying she's OK. I feel horrible that I didnt bring her in the house last night. Im praying she's OK. Im tearing up writing this. I hope she's safe someplace.

So please say a prayer for Winston.

Hi Jason. Sorry to hear about Winston missing - hopefully she found a safe place to avoid the cold and snow. Will certainly say a prayer for her.

    FOUND!

Spent half the day looking for her. Found her in the engine compartment of the truck. I heard the faintest meow from the truck this afternoon. She was trapped in there for who knows how long. Dumbass. Im glad she's OK. Between Jennifer and the animals, Im surprised my hair isnt white

WHEW! Prayer does work! Thank God!!!!

Now I can finally start shoveling my self out.

Cats don't last here in Mass.....LOTS of coyotes.

    We keep ours indoors.

I'm very glad that you found your cat Jason! Reminds me of a story one of my aunt's told me years ago. They lived in Brooklyn and one cold winter my uncle went to start his car and was quite surprised to see hair flying in through the vents. He opened the hood and a half bald cat quickly ran away!

Clear skies and sunny with about 18" of solidified rain on the ground. Its 4:30 and Im still not done digging. Its supposed to get progressively warmer out all week with a high of 50 come this Saturday. Its gonna feel like a heat wave.

The wind was so strong last night, it leterally blew my patio set off the deck and smashed the glass tabletop to bits. Luckily, it looks like safety glass. I was thinking about buying a new one come spring, so no big loss.

The little brainless cat has been inside all day drying off and huddling next to the cast iron radiator. I have a feeling she'll be staying indoors tonight.

I had visions of a little black popsicle. Here's a picture of what gave me three more gray hairs today.

I saw that a town in NJ had 32" of the dreaded white stuff. This is before we start talking drifts.

Wonderful story. We had our own experience with a newly rescued Aussie. I did not sleep until we found him.

I'm glad this had a happy ending, but I also want to say some cats will learn that engines can be a source of heat in the winter, you may have to keep an eye on her for a while

You're right there. I lost a cat to a car engine fan in Winnipeg one winter, -40 degrees.

That's exactly what happed to us we finished with the barn chores and I started the car to park it by the house, and the cat must have been sitting next to the fan.

Glad the kitty turned up safe. The life span of outside/barn cats is usually limited due to cars and predators. We have an outside cat that is 16 years old and still going strong. This cat is still effective at earning her keep as rodent control. Apparently she has some real woods smarts to not get eaten by a Great Horned Owl, Bald Eagle or any of the 4 legged predators. We have never had a barn cat live that long.

Before anyone thinks we are the stupid people who let cats roam the neighborhood freely, our cat is spayed, we don't live in a neighborhood and have no neighbors.

When it drops into the teens we let the old kitty in but really, I think it makes us feel better more than it really helps the cat.

She must be smart, Jason! I actually only let my cat out with me, on a leash. She resisted the whole idea at first but got used to it and now is more like a dog on aleash. When we walk down to the river where the bald eagles hang out and screech away, she doesn't even look up, so I have a feeling that of she was loose, she'd be snatched up real easy.

Did you ever dig out of the white stuff up there on L.I.?

Yeah, wasn't too bad for me. The depot where they keep the plow trucks and salt for my surrounding area is about 6 blocks away so the drivers are always doing our local side streets on their way out to the major roads. Add to that all the guys with plows hanging off the front of their pickups who clear the shopping centers and stores run the neighborhood with their plows down and our street is always good.

Now, the 6-8 feet of plow dung waist high at the end of the driveway is another story ... and my 75 foot 2.5 car wide driveway was another story. My 10hp YardMan 2 stage made short work of it though - so much so id did both neighbors on either side of me as well as the one across the street.

Hey, they're the ones who have to deal with BigRed singing her song when I leave early for Buick events or come home late from Cruise Nites. Gotta grease the wheels

This storm was pretty wierd though with the 55 mile per hour sustained winds. My driveway is on the north side of the house and along the 35' of the house it was totally clear from the wind blowing it clean. I saw that developing and pulled the daily rides in there. Usually I leave them at the end of the drive so I can clean with the blower throwing everything foward. If I hadn't, they would have been in 6-8 foot drifts
