Is it time to reopen this and leave the pissing matches between Pure Stock and F.A.S.T. behind?

    Right, wrong?

    Mike Wowk Who freakin' cares?

I have no problems with this class. I have a few friends who would do it. Including my Brother who's 70 RR is pretty much stock except for headers. I would run my car as well as long as Dave H doesn't force me to put headers on my car too...

Either way, Mike. We skinny guys have to stick together.

I don't think this would ever take off as a unique event, but maybe grow if people could bring their "non-virgin" cars to one of our events and have enough to set up some 2/3 matchups against similar et cars. The BPG spring T & T is excellent for this. (Thanks again to BPG for this last year.)

Doesn't have to be anything formal at first, but just a place to bring these cars out, hang out with similar people (I'll bet there are lots of people like this in the stands at Stanton at PSMCDR), if you get 8-10 of them, keep track of the et's, use the 0.2 sec and 3 mph breakout sandbagger clause from PS, and have some fun. Can help spread out the cost of renting the track on private rental days and if it works, take it from there. Who knows, maybe they'll get the bug and convert their cars to PS or FAST...???

I wonder if you could bill this as a FAST/PS challenge against the modified cars.

Maybe once you get the modified cars on track with the FAST/PS cars, there would be more converts to the two forms of racing. Guys who currently do not meet the rules for the two events are not likely to show up and see what the classes are about, so if you have a event or two where they can run there car, I am guessing it would be a way to draw new blood into both classes.

If tech people were available to look over the mod cars to let them know what would have to be done for them to convert, that would be even better........

Good idea, Donny. I bet there would be some good synergy between the classes and participants.

I suggested an "outlaw" class to Dennis Jensen several years ago, but he (correctly) observed that the PSMCDR gets a perfect-sized field just the way it is.

Now the FAST/PS series is another matter. Based on the one race I attended, seems like you guys could use another 50 cars or so.

I like the idea of a "non virgin" class car between the PS & FAST. Like Dave said nothing real formal at first just similar et & mph with the sandbagger clause. Don't worry about headers or factory correct carb etc just come run have fun. Small prise money is fine because they don't have to be built for the class. Its to get some of people out of the stands and some of the tons of restified street cars out of the garage.

You know, maybe instead of a 'race' to get the modified cars to an event, maybe 8-10 Pure Stockers and FAST guys should invade the local brackets or test and tune nights and run and pimp the events that way

I bet it's easier to find posible converts in a Casino than getting them to come to church first.............

    Problem with that, Donny, is:
    1. You get to wait in line 2 hours between runs
    2. You can't hear yourself think because of all the noisy headers.
    3. I hate motorcycles and Fox Mustangs.

    1. I am sure you could fill those 2 hours with lots of interesting stories of days gone by

    2. For some of us, having the voices drowned out is a good thing

    3. The FOX body is finally dead.

I guess if this isn't a good idea, then contiuning to hit the cruise night and local car shows is about hte only way to get more cars involved....
