okay, this might be a while in comming( a year or two at the very least),but ive got a doozy here. i know of friend with a 70-72 skylark body sitting in his yard. i plan to put it back together for a race called the grassroots motorsports challenge which means i only have $2008-$2009 to put it together. i plan to spend a lot of time with a welder its just a shell, but i can get a frame and a 425 cadillac from him too(hopefully). i also need a number of a number of body parts and a couple of interior parts, i plan to spend a lot of time with a welder , so what i need just needs to be solid or repairable,so my question, what is the cheapest i could aquire this kind of stuff at? heres the list core support inner fenders left fender headlights and doors front and rear bumpers windshield tail lights gauges for the dash
what type of racing is this?? you might be able to forget the inner fenders, if there is not some rule aginst it
well id dont dont know what the technical term is for it, but this race has three catagories, auto cross, drag, and concours. the car body must be stock and the car must be road worthy. most are imports and compacts but i thought to go a differnt route and go for some caddy powered buick muscle with a WWII bomber theme. heres somemore info for those interested http://grassrootsmotorsports.com/news/112006/2007-challenge-rules-posted.php
I've got a 70 skylark sitting here, you can have it for $2,000 (obo, make a decent offer?). Runs and drives, floorboards and the real framerails are shot.. body 'could' be salvaged if you dont mind tubbing it out and adding a subframe. Has been stripped for paint, bumpers sandblasted, etc.. 350-2 is a strong runner, rebuilt carb, new radiator, new drum brakes all around, new rear springs, solid fenders, all glass good, etc. I dont want to see it go to waste. Pics available as soon as I find my digital camera, I do have older pics of the car available. Lots of parts to go with it!
that would give him 8 dollars for the rest of the project. i've always wanted to do that project. however I'd use a nissan 240sx with a small block between the wheels.
some guys have gotten "donations" from junkyards for this project however on the car and some parts. (turbos from other vehicles for example) not sure how fair that is. my buddies 96 nissan 240sx though would be a great donated car as it has severe hail damage spray it white and write titliest on the sides and all would be well and good. oh yea it aslo has 280k miles.
