Looking at options on shipping my GS to MCACN. I got a quote from reliable shipping and they are great but they come at a cost. Wondering who any of you other members have used ? Thank you for any info.

Well, I can say this from experience...you get what you pay for. God forbid a lesser company scratches that paint. That's not easily repaired

I always say, quality is remembered long after price is forgotten

I was going with friends this year but wife is too nervous because all of the shootings. Media is covering up people getting dragged from cars. Just not worth it to me. Be safe if you go.

I will say the area in which this is situated is as about as good as can possibly be. Right across the street are the hotels from the convention center, 30 second walk and you can take a sky-bridge if you wish and avoid the surface streets. Cops are everywhere directing traffic and providing protection. The town is "family" owned, if you will, and thugs probably know to stay away if they value anything in their life. I am nervous too but felt completely safe while there. I didn't even miss my "friend" I normally carry with me. Always a good idea to keep head on swivel but felt no need to fear my life. Now downtown Chicago? Different story.

Brad, it’s driving there I fear the most. I felt safe too when I was there a few years ago but things have gotten out of hand. And yes no little friends allowed.

The whole area around the convention center is really nice. It's right off the highway, too.

Yes, I was nervous about leaving my truck and trailer in that big dirt lot. I couldn’t believe it was still there unmolested at the end of it all. Drove the GSX in a driving rain storm to the lot. I was afraid I would launch it through the trailer as it being a 4 spd the wheels spun on the slick wood. It was that or wait hours to get trailer into the building with everyone trying to load up at the same time. Plan for that if you go. Arriving is more spread out so not an issue.

If at all possible, we wait until Monday AM to leave. It is virtually clear by that point.

That's exactly what we did, wait until Monday AM to load and leave. Much less of an issue and still safe inside the building. Even loaded inside! That place is huge!!

We never hear a peep about any crime in Rosemont here on the local news, now downtown Chicago is a completely different story... I won't go near it these days! It's a damn shame what's happened to this beautiful city. :(

When I loaded Monday I was sitting next to a 70 or 71 Plum Crazy Challenger Convertible with a white top and white bucket seat interior. Talk about a car!!! and he really liked my car as well.

The only issue Brad & I had was getting to the event. Going around Chicago on the loop is interesting if you have never been there before. I would advise having a co-pilot to help with the navigation there. Also if you have e-z pass it makes it a lot easier to navigate that road, instead of stopping at the toll gates again and again. Plus it is cheaper.

If you want a very reliable shipper call, Charter Auto Transport, Carlisle, Pennsylvania, 717.961.9386. Speak to Charlene.
They do a great job and I know that they are shipping to MCACN. My good friend who has very rare and expensive cars uses them regularly, shipping to Amelia Island and other prime show locations....never had an issue with damage.

I know exactly what you mean. Very difficult. The GPS had us get off an exit we should not have. Not fun pulling a 24 foot enclosed trying to get back on the highway. Even paying attention can get you lost.

Just a heads up.....There are no more toll booths to pay cash anywhere on the Illinois Tollway that i'm aware of. If you don't have an EZ-Pass and go through the collection points they expect you to keep track and pay online or by mail. You have 14 days to do so or the fines start to kick in.......... and they're not cheap! Any way that the state of Illinois can reach in your pocket, believe me they will.

You guys are not making me feel very good about going to this show. Sounds like a lot of crime and a pain in the ass if I tow my car up myself.

It's not. All highway, and when you get off the highway, it's high end urban area. Trailer storage lot is secure and about a mile away.

Don't be afraid of this event......it is very nice and if you only do it once....you won't regret it.

    Ryan,
Yes Reliable is pricey. To me, it's a once ( Or twice) in a lifetime event that you'll enjoy having your car in and the much less worry of towing and dealing with the logistics are worth it. The guys at Reliable are great.
