    gsjohnny ron,

who was the guy that had that manifold? not many guys ran s/stock buicks and it had to be quite awhile ago.
do you what parts were used to make the manifold?
you should send it to jim......see how that 350 will run with that on it....

    john

John, I bought the intake two or three years ago from Mike Walcek (sp) from northern Indiana. I think he runs a 350 GS in K/SA. He had gotten the motor from someone in Kentucuy but I never got his name. Intake sould be making a trip in a day or two.

Ok, this is getting outta hand. We need to put a stop to this right now!!!!!!!!!
SBB are not suppossed to be making 500HP. WHat I want you guys to do is dismantel the engine and return it to its stock condition. Delete this entire thread so that no record exists that this was ever done. And then everyone needs to do their part by forgetting this ever took place. It's really not that difficult to do. Just pick up half a dozen Hot Rod, Car Craft or Chevy High performance mags and read about how these numbers are reserved for the BBCs.
With any luck we'll forget all of this within a year or two and will return to making a paltry 300HP.
Come on guys, you're all thinking it. It's just that none of you had the balls to say it.

    PS. I"M SMOKING CRACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LOL! yeah, that's prolly what we need to do. NOT!

I know there is going to be at least one more knarly 350 comming about pretty soon. Things are already falling into place for it. Not to mention any names here, you know who I am talking about,,,,,,, Jim Burek

    P.S.
I did tell Rob that this engine would probably start a serious 350 engine program out of PAE, I AM very interested in these little engines that aint supposed to run.

Soo, Jim it sounds like, to me, that everything you have assembled in is an off the shelf product, except for the port work, soo far.

Im just thinking how hard it would be for a competent person to assemble and come close to these #'s...

    Alan -

Earlier in the thread it is mentioned that this motor is using the Weisco 10.5:1 forged pistons offered thru PAE.

Re: The Little Buick that could...

In what I feel has become true Buick tradition............NOONE should be free from abuse, lol. Be it a big block, chevy, mopar,or even a BB Buick.......Just like in the school yard, if you want respect you walk up to the biggest guy there and hit him in the mouth. :Brow: . We all know the 455'' is the biggest in the Buick school yard. Bout' time some 350 comes up and tries to hit em' in the mouth.

I think things may be a changin' some. Granted, you will always go faster with a BBB, but unless your looking for closer to 600+ hp, you just don't need a 455'' anymore. This motor shows everyone out there that. And there is another way to go instead of just tossing a 350'' in favor of a 455''. The 350's just needs a intake that actually works now and things would get even more interesting I think. Time will tell.......

I feel like a kid waiting for Christmas. I am gitty with joy.
Waiting to open a box full of respect that we have all deserved for a long long while. I know we will scare many a 455 but its them Chevy guys we gotta put in place.

Cause its cheaper to build and faster will not be an option anymore. Its all I hear in the Chevy world. Its cheaper to build and faster, more parts, more options.

bla bla bla bla bla is all I hear anymore.

You have no idea how much flack us V6 3rd gen owners get. The answer to every question is put a SBC in it. We have 3 mods in the V6 section just to delete 2-3 thread a day of people coming in to give people a hard time quoting siege hiel put a SBC in it.

I have an answer for them now. With a butt load of riotous redemption.

    The day the SBC died.

I am also so glad as I felt like I was committing a crime by tossing my 350 for a 455 so my wagon would kill. Id be happy with 502HP 350 in my steel monster.

Yea n I was laughing my butt off this past weekend when I saw the SBC 383 build up on HP TV and with Every trick parts in the Summit book it got like 402HP.

I hate to be Mr. Negativety here (check my earlier post), but how much power is this engine capable of handling?
Assuming that the new Roller Rockers and a fantasy intake (looking forward to seeing Ron's intake sitting atop this engine) were to start pushing this engine towards the 600HP mark, would the Block and Rods be able to handle it? WHat would eventually prove to be the limiting part?
Just wandering. A friend and I were discussing the matter and the conclusion was that at %200 of stock power the engine would run into trouble. Any thoughts?

I'm still dying to know the details of the build. Were any coatings used on the bearings? Capscrew rods? Rotating assembley balanced, etc.? Inquiring minds want to know!

Well I know the turbo v-6 guys push 550 plus pretty consistantly with all stock internals, quite a few guys doing much more.
I'm not too worried about the block, not saying it could'nt be better, I just feel the stock block should be more than able to live a t 600 horsepower, the rods would be the only concern, since thay are only cast pieces. One thing on this engine is that the wiseco pistons are really very light, That takes alot of load off the rods.
Of course, I have seen engines with all the good stuff, rods, crank, whatever come apart. Building high horsepower engine is always to some degree, a crap shoot, you never know when something will decide to break.

If anyone is interested in getting rid of their little "350 boat anchors" - I'm collecting them for an artificial reef off the east coast. Just send them all right over. :Brow:

    Yeah, thats the ticket!

Hit the boneyards now boys and girls!!! With the price of scrap metals going through the roof, the yards won't be holding on to nonmovers like sbb's.

    If only they knew!!! :jd:

What I'd like to know is what this engine will be like to have in your car. Freind has 67 chevelle with 500+ hp sbc, and while it has all kinds of power, its cammed to the nuts, loud, and obnoxious....not what I want in my street car.

I'm sure the Buick is better (it is a Buick after all), what will this engine be like for driveability....??

Its all personal opnion of course. Very impressive results especially given lack of intake, heads, etc.

Tim, I know where you are coming from. Rob (my brother) initial goal was to have a top notch street motor but now I don't think that is what he is going for since the hp is just increasing. Its very much like an addiction. When its good, you want more but when you come down, you come down hard. Believe me, I think its great to see these numbers but when someone builds a motor, you really have to look what it will be used most for. Grant it, bragging rights are nice but it does come with a big price tag. For myself, I am also building up a 350 and I can tell you, Its not hard to start racking up $1000 auto part bills.
I guess the big question I got is, is durability of the motor affected as horsepower increases? Also, at what point will 93 octane not enough for this 350?
