ron, who was the guy that had that manifold? not many guys ran s/stock buicks and it had to be quite awhile ago. do you what parts were used to make the manifold? you should send it to jim......see how that 350 will run with that on it.... john
How is it that this motor is making it's power peak around 5500? Is there more to be had by taking it up to 6500? Are you playing with cam timing and other factors to bring the HP peak down into a lower range, or is that just where it's ending up? With a free-breathing intake manifold, would there be higher HP numbers at a higher RPM?
Transmission Choice Scott, on the transmission you posted I thought the price was closer to $3000.00 :jd: , correct me if I'm wrong AL.
Now that's what I'm talking about in an intake manifold. This little motor miaght really start to make some power with that thing on top. Then again, it may really shift the power band up to a not as happy street set-up as it currently is. I have run the engine up through 6000 rpm, I seems to be peaking at right around 5600 to 5700, still over 460 horse at 5900 though. Jim Burek I have'nt even had a chance to talk to Rob about this engine since these last pulls, hope he's not mad I posted here first. Jim Burek
Don't worry Jim, I'm not mad  How could I with these numbers? :TU: When I came home from work I had to do a double-take as I thought my tiredness overcame my ability to read correct, lol. I think it's absolutely amazing at the numbers that are coming out of this engine and it's definately making more power than I thought it ever would.
A peak of 502 HP? :eek2: Amazing, I think I need to go lay down... I can't wait to see some video of this car running.
Well, I just spoke with Jim and we're gonna see what this engine can really do. Believe it or not the engine is running stock 1.54 rockers and a hydralic cam, so we're replacing that with a set of TA roller rockers and a custom solid lift grind. When we first started this project I never thought this engine would make this amount of power. With seeing there is more that can be pulled out from it made me decide in going further to see how much power this engine can really make. Also, we're going to try to get some adapter plates to mount a single plane intake on it to help it breathe better. I believe this engine will put some big blocks to shame
Re: single plane SEND IT TO JIM !!!!:TU: :TU: At least let him do some Dyno pulls with it.....come on - you MUST be curious what It'll do on this motor !!!! Jim - Excellent work, as usual :TU:
This power is totally awsome. Ihave been trying to get info on 350's for a long time. I have this 350 i just can't figure out how get the power out of it. Specs as follows 350 bored 30 over index ground crank&cross drilled Forged pistons w/valve reliefs TA Performance Reconditioned rods SFI flexplate Balanced assembly/ Torque plate used TA intake Port matched to heads, exhaust crossover is open 1 5/8 TA headers New valves (stainless) larger heads ported Supposed to be 235 cfm intake 176 on exhaust. 750 dbl pump holley 70- 78 jets 1 inch open hole spacer Never experimented enough with 2 inch spacer did some but didn't notice much new TA front cover Oil Pressure 65-70 lbs hot @6000 rpm 50-55lbs @3000 rpm 15 lbs hot 40 miles on highway at idle in drive light flickers. This was in 1994. Today I have the GS club pop Mech. cam Comp Cam Pro Mag Lifters These work the best now car runs 13.50 to 13.80 did 13.33 as best 2 years ago can'get back. good compression 180 -190 leak down was 3-5 percent Ok now what. I see you have a mean 350 which is what I wanted in the first place but it just did not happen now I am ready for a Jim Weise 455 or get that intake manifold I seen on here and hog out the Heads. Any ideas?
I forgot Ialso have 2 1/2 inch exhaust w/ Flowmaster mufflers with x pipe. Ialso have hose from the valve covers to the headers on both sides PCV eliminated. I also have something for you corner carvers is a complete HO Racing suspension system. Remember Goat Eats Porche ads? Well anyways I have large sway bars front & back, boxed control arms, heavy springs front & back, spindles are 1977 Camaro w/ disk brakes Poly bushings all the way around, I can litterly Fly Around corners no nose diving here.
I am feeling really confused. The words you speak touch me so deeply. If I wasn't a man id have sex with you.
Wholly Monkeys!! 502 with more room to go still yet, I love it. Well, I just erased through the "get 455" line on my dream list for my 71 Lark. Having a bit of trouble adding all this stuff in the room that left on my sheet though  Outstanding work guys!! Jeff
The Little Buick that could... Rob- You are definitely gonna have some fun with that in your car! :TU: I can see you now pulling up to a light against some unsuspecting Hemi/Chevelle/Mustang owner. You get the once over and the usual disprespect for being a Buick. A closer look reveals 350 badging. Geez, not even a big block! The light turns green and Holy Sh%@! And if you pull over and talk to your victim the ultimate would be to pop the hood and prove that you're running a small block! :TU: Now you noticed I mentioned cars of other makes. Please don't make a habit of brutalizing us Big Block Buick guys! :jd: Keep up the good work! Will you be running the car at Englishtown this year????
