Just wondering if there are any issues with this brand flex plate.

    Looks like a nice piece,

I had an issue with my original SFI flexplate. The ring gear was closer to the pinion than stock. That eventually destroyed my mini starters until I figured out that the pinion to flexplate clearance was too tight. The Robb Mc starter solved that problem as you could adjust the starter for that with shims. I eventually replaced the flexplate (when I changed converters) with the one that JW uses currently. Maybe ask Jim.

Call Jim Weise. The one he sent me was perfect. Had to remove both shims from my Robb Mc starter. Clearance was perfect.

Ben, the one I pictured is the one I got from Jim Weise. I don't know who makes it, but it resembles a stock Flex plate except it is SFI.

What's wrong with a stock flex plate? Unless you have a ton of horsepower, the stock one is fine.My car has a stock one and I would venture to say that it has over 600 ponies and never a problem with it.Bruno.

Try to get a 600hp car through a hard core NHRA tech inspection.

I've had them pull the inspection cover to see the sticker b4

Hi Ben,I'm running a 4100 pds car with me in it,it might go below the 11.5,but with a stock 12 bolt rear and MT,its kind of hard to hook up and get better then that.If I hook up like in the low 40's short time the rear is gone,it also has stock axel's.Most of the time It will get around 1.60's,sometime high 1.50's short time. The wheels will go up a little, but you will see a stretch of rubber ,depending how long you stay on it.By the way,we are talking about my 70 street car,not my race 64 Buick Special.that one has around 800 hp and has run 9.04 at the GS nationals last October. And just a couple weeks ago,it run 9.08 at Cecil race track, here again, with a better short time,it will go into the 8's.Bruno.

I’ve never ever seen an NHRA tech guy, put that much effort into seeing an SFI stick on ANYTHING under a car..... Somebody must’ve really really pissed them off, OR the car was just junk falling apart...

Normally my car breeze through in just a few minutes, but that day at indy they were going over every car with a fine tooth comb. I as always have my numbers as well as printed pics of them....but that day ever car spent at least 30+ minute in tech.

Normally it's just a check of belts and helmets dates, look at roll cage and padding, check for no start in gears.

I haven't seen tech guys look for a whole lot besides the obvious stuff. That being said if the car looks poorly put together or maybe looks to be fast without some of the safety essentials to go with it they might start looking more in depth.
Some of this stuff is common sense though. Just because you can get away with it doesn't mean you should. I like having legs and feet so I wouldn't skip any of this stuff.

At Lebanon Valley they wanted to see the numbers off my balancer , flywheel and trans shield. Heck, I can hardly remember what brands they are. ATI, BHJ, TCI, JW?
But I think someone told them to go over me real well.....;)
