I have been painting some new small plastic interior parts red in my 70 Chevelle SS. I first cleaned the parts, then used Bulldog adhesive aid prior to painting. In just doing two plastic seat bracket covers with 3 coats each on both sides to get the color correct my can is empty. Is this normal? I planned on painting a new black dash pad red as well but I am concerned how many cans I will need and if its worth it. At this rate I might ending up paying the same for a red aftermarket dash.

That stuff is pricey! Is the regular SEM red close? Those cans will be "fuller"

If you didn't go crazy heavy on each coat, that seems something's not right. I've used SEM and it seemed to go much further per can.

Went through this last year and if your using the cans that they fill at the store its only like 50% full when you buy it. Also discovered that red is the hardest color to get complete coverage. I went through 2 spray cans and 3 qts to change the int in the Wildcat from black to red. In the end I was using a small cup gun with a HVLP

Need to use a light color over black then use the red

SEM products are very good, used their products over many years with no issues.
