    I have a saginaw power steering box date code
    Jan 4. 1970
    My car build is april 70
    Is that date code to far ahead to be original?
    Thks tom

    OK,
    I have 4 examples from 1970 cars that I know were still carrying their original parts;

    Body Build date 10D (4th week of Oct 1969)
    P Steering box Oct 28, 1969

    Body Build date 03D (4th week of March 1970)
    P Steering box Feb 18, 1970 (GSX, Quick Ratio)

    Body Build date 05D (4th week of May 1970)
    P Steering box May 19, 1970

    Body Build date 05E (5th week of May 1970)
    P Steering box May 20, 1970

    You can see from the above, that the boxes were very close to the body build dates of the cars.

    The only one that has a box further away from the body date was the GSX, which had the quick ratio box (specific to 70 GSX's only)
    They would have been built in small batches, so they would start out close to the body date, then move further away until that batch was used up, then repeat.
