Sad news our friend and Buick GS owner Joe Guzek passed away yesterday please keep his wife, Mary in your prayers
Sorry to hear of his passing. Always sad to hear about the passing of someone in the Buick community.
I met him at the Nationals one year. He was a very nice guy and a wealth of Buick and industry knowledge. I hate to hear he’s gone. Here’s a link to the restoration of his car and a lot of positive comments about him, too. http://www.v8buick.com/index.php?threads/joe-guzek’s-cinnamon-firemist-‘70-stage-1.352077/ Patrick
Condolences to those that knew him. Sounds like an amazing man. It’s so sad when we loose someone with all that knowledge. Beautiful car, can anyone shed some light on the wheels to this noobie?
Spyders , aftermarket from the 1960’s, Google them, most were 14 inch but some 15’s are available from time to time and the center caps are tuff to find.
Joe worked for Motor Wheel, so that was his specialty, also many of the Buick wheels we still love today!
Joe died? That is crushing. I cannot even count the endless hours we spent on the phone together. He introduced me to Dennis Manner who later confirmed the provenance of the experimental X- block during my early years of ownership & then invited me nearly every year to hang out with him and Dennis at the same hotel they were staying at,but I never could afford the trip back in those days. We have lost a wonderful, kind, and very knowledgeable Buick brother beyond words sorry for his families lost. Good bye my friend, rest in peace. Fritz
He was Buick’s ‘guy’ at Motor. He designed the Spyder and custom built a set in 15x8 for his own car. He also designed the GN wheel for ‘86-‘87 (by using centers from the Riviera T Type and Chevy 15” rims.) He held patents for several wheel designs. Motor built all of Buick’s rally wheels, too. Sorry to hear of Joe’s passing. I always enjoyed talking to him at the Nats when he and Denny would come down and was glad to help with his car, even though it was in a very small way. The fact that his buddies got together and restored his car, is a testament of the type of guy he was. Duane
