Doug: Great to see you and your family, again! Let me know next time you are passing through town, so you can join Geri and I, for a visit.

Thanks for the white wall cleaner. I should have listened to you and reduced the concentrate with 50% water. The stuff worked too well! The next day, my letters had dissolved off the sidewalls of the BFGs! Only, 4 milky-white puddles in the garage. Yah, I'm joking.

I'll post a few more pictures, courtesy of JohnnyGS:

Oh, and in the group shot of the Buicks, can you correctly pick the model which is currently for sale for a cool 1/4 million dollars?

Finally sat down and got the pics off the camera, and as per Johnny's request, tried to limit the Mopar and Ford pics... Really nice place to have a show, surrounded by mountains! A little difficult to get all 5 buicks in one pic with all those people around, but there are some good buick shots here. :TU:

    Continued September 20th

The biggest advantage in organizing our club's show, was the opportunity for me to save a section for the Buicks to be parked together. Doug was the first to arrive with his wife and twin boys, after a leisurely drive on our " 2010 Olympic Legacy Highway." He deftly slotted the stretch-Electra convertible beside my GS, none too impaired by his right leg cast. Johnny was next to arrive in his '64 Skylark, and parked by my GN. Luckily for both, I had pre-registered them, and handed them all their goodies, including T-shirts, and dash plaques. What I hadn't expected, was Wolfgang to show up in his 1946 Torpedo-back. He lives in Squamish, and although I constantly encourage him to bring his Buick out for display, it's not too often he's able to do it. As a community service, he takes great pleasure in driving many of our town's seniors, residing in Hilltop House, around town in his classic.

Our club hired two bands to play this year: set up at either end of the large car show area. This added to the festive experience, with many people jiving to Golden Oldies, 60's-70's Rock, and Blues. During the day, there were many door prizes drawn, and I did win a pair of Cinema tickets, while Doug won a model car. The Parkside Restaurant had a barbeque in the grassy park, and sold some 700 burgers! Other restaurants were just as busy, as there were large crowds of exhibitors and spectators taking in the sights and sounds of the show.

The best part of the whole event was the arrival of the motorcyclists. The crowd parted to allow them to drive down the centre of Cleveland Avenue, and you can't get much closer to the throb of bikes motoring past you. Once the bikes had parked, it made for quite an impressive sight: 275 bikes and 125 cars, in total, within a two block perimeter!

As last year, our voting committees kept to their timelines, and the announcement of class winners occurred as advertised on the voting handouts. I was taken aback, when my GS had been chosen winner of the People's Choice trophy. There were many fine, deserving cars, which I felt were more presentable, but I think voters appreciated the rarity of the GS.

Our club was thankful for such a solid turn-out, as it helped us generate enough revenue to donate a substantial gift of $3,000 to the Squamish General Hospital to help purchase our town's first CT scanner.

I hope this year's event will be a primer for more of you Buick owners to join us in 2010!

    Take care,

    Nando.
