Many of you remember and know the legendary “Ruffo” car. It will debut in Bowling Green this year. The following are a few pictures of the way the car was when I acquired it and the ongoing restoration. I will post more recent photos in the next few days. The final graphics on the car will be something to be seen in person… The motor shot is the way it looked when the heads came off. NOTE TO WHEELIE KING: I AM COMING FOR YOU…:moonu:
Jeff Good to see the progress! Did you end up w/ the ''extended" version scoop? What is the measurement if you hook your tape on the back and follow the "ridge" down the middle to the front?
Yes, it is the extended version. The measurement is 69 3/4", I would have liked it to run a tad bit more parallel to the windshield (the rear top edge could have come back another inch or so) but I still like the way it looks.
I was thinking the same thing Did it ever run and if so what times and what power plant? Keep posting pics :TU:
John, you are of course! ou: The Ruffo car was built by the Ruffo family in the very early 90s maybe even the late 80s. (There are more Buick people around that know more about the car then me) The chassis cert sticker is dated 1993. It has been at Bowling Green and the Norwalk race quite a few times and ran pretty well for that time. I have video of the car running in the 9 teens with a Stage 1 headed motor. When I got the car it had a 535 cubic Buick inch engine that ran on alcohol. Not sure what it ran with this combination. The car was black before the color it is now or at least the way it is in the pictures. Corey Ruffo did race the car at a lot of other events as well up and down the East Coast. Corey and his family are from Western PA. I will bet if any of the above is inaccurate someone will help me out. Here a few more up to date pictures, it goes in tomorrow for the "color and graphic change"
Jeff, I remember seeing the car at BG. Cory had the car launching straight. I was really impressed with the way it left the line. Dave
Dave, I appreciate the info it does match my info as well, and in thrashing to get a car competitive in a short period of time all information is appreciated especially since I have concentrated on how the car "shows". Hey Rick, I love photoshop too! See ya in BG!:spank:
