I know you can reuse Cometic head gaskets and I have some preconceived ideas of how to do it, however I'd like to get more opinions from people who have done so. For example, how do you clean them: drill out the rivet's and clean each layer, do you coat them with something: ie cooper coat, do you remove all the Teflon coating and start fresh, etc? Thanks in advance for the responses.
    Thanks

I would not drill out the rivets to separate a mls gasket like that

From my experience, they are "reusable" only to a certain point. I had several sets that were on motors for an extended period and when removed they were damaged/separating around the fire ring. Not reusable at that point. I think the term "reusable" is more geared toward the full-time racer that tears the engine down frequently. Maybe I'm wrong and I did something wrong to advance the damage that occurred, but that's my experience with them.

BTW, I still use them on my stuff, I just don't consider them "reusable".
