Has anyone tried to "restore" the data plate from a TH 400 trans? I am doing a factory original restoration on a 71 Riv. The blue paint from the data plate has all started to flake off. I was wondering if there is a way to restore these. Here is a photo of what is left of the original blue one and the yellow photo (from a 1972 spare I also have) as a guide for what the paint is supposed to look like.

A quick google search produced this? Don't know how to reproduce yours. Inline tube appears to sell something, but it looks wrong. You can see in the engraved bottom letters the CD that is painted on is reproduced. Yours says BC. Perhaps you can find a better version and make a stencil?

I was thinking stencil too. But I was not aware of the Inline Tube option. That may be a good option.
I'd only need to remove the paint to make the B and C and then stamp.

    Thanks

Ok, I see the inline tube does seem to have this:

But then you need to stamp the digits, paint (or remove the paint) for the large BC and paint the the 71C. Seems like a lot of work to make a new fake of the original old piece. The new rivet looks wrong too ;~)

At least I have options now. Thanks
