For those of you that have done it... Ease? I tried to find an old thread with pictures of someone who had separated the hood skin from the under/ support structure. May just repair it with small patches...

It's a good question, George, that I was wondering myself after noticing rust "up in there" in both my hood and my trunk lid. I don't wanna cut all those spot welds or whatever and then re-weld them afterward.
One fix I am considering, if it's just surface rust in there, is using a rust encapsulator or converter and running a long hose from the spray can with a 360-degree nozzle at the end of the hose. It's used for spraying inside frame rail tubes, etc. You pull the hose back out while spraying, and it coats places you can't reach any other way.

I was thinking of doing the same thing and welding in some 70-72 scoops in my 64 hood. It looks like a lot of drilling and some frustration, if anyone has done it, how long did it take?

My friend just did this with a 70 GTO hood. It was a ton of work. Besides the spot welds there was a lot of hammer and dolly work where the skin is folded over the frame.

I have a GS hood that needs the under structure. The top skin isn't that bad but the structure is bad.

I have a 70s Gs hood that is dented and ripped.. I'll bet a Skylark's hood under side is the same? The underside of my gs hood looks like the ribs were cut to fit the scoops from the factory. Either way, my 64 gs hood project will remain on the back burner for awhile.

Mine is a 71 but I got another hood so I will probably sell mine.
